Click here to visit the new home of Politics Daily!(Feb. 17) -- It might be the adulterous sex scene in the White House swimming pool that sent them over the edge. Or the line that has President John F. Kennedy saying he gets migraines unless he sleeps with a new woman every couple of days. But the proposed script of a new History channel miniseries has drawn the ire of progressive historians and bloggers, who are waging a campaign to stop a portrait about JFK that some are calling a "right-wing political hit job." AP The Kennedy clan gathered for this group shot at the Hyannis Port, Mass., home of Joseph P. Kennedy on Nov. 9, 1960. It ...
For anyone who hasn't been paying attention, John McCain might seem to be some kind of economic whiz kid who just can't get Warshington to bend to his superior judgment and pass some gosh-darn regulations. Although recent polls suggest that more and more Americans are getting the message, Brave New Films has put together a nice little reminder that McCain is a self-assessed novice on the economy, and a forceful opponent of government regulation of businesses. The film cuts together pre- and post-crisis footage of McCain, and the contrast is stark. You would think McCain would try to smooth out ...
Back when John Edwards was taken to task for getting a $400 haircut, I marveled at the bone-headed move, but bemoaned the logic that said that because you were rich and lived in a big house, you couldn't possibly support policies that would help the lives of those less fortunate. Well, John McCain now finds himself under the same kind of attack. See Robert Greenwald's latest below:To be sure, there's a bit of payback here, considering that McCain has repeatedly attempted to portray Barack Obama as the elitist in the race. And, unlike Edwards, McCain will never be accused of hypocrisy for ...
Readers of this blog know that I'm not a huge fan of what has come to be known as the "YouTube Gotcha!" This phenomenon turns any moderately tech-savvy individual (especially those with iMovie) into a veritable 527 political action committee. You scour YouTube footage for statements made on this or that topic, and then, ala Tim Russert, you juxtapose that material against other contradictory statements. It's a classic, time-honored journalistic move meant to illustrate hypocrisy, and we've seen it time and time again in this campaign. Hillary Clinton's Bosnia visit, and Barack Obama's failure ...
As promised, I have the second half of my interview with Brave New Films' Robert Greenwald. There's an interesting bit of coincidence here. As I was interviewing Robert last night about Fox News and Rudy Giuliani, he got a call to appear on MSNBC regarding the breaking Judith Regan story. That story just happens to tie together Greenwald's favorite 2 bogeymen. The Judith Regan (of "OJ Simpson: IF I Did it" fame.) story is being worked on by my colleague Denise Williams. Greenwald did send me the following statement today: Judith Regan's lawsuit describing FOX's support for Giuliani is ...
I posted a piece about Brave New Films' new short film, "Fox Attacks: Decency", on Monday. In the piece, I disagreed with BNF's tactic of petitioning the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for "a´ la carte" cable as a way to oppose Fox News.Imagine my surprise when a Brave New Films staffer contacted me, via the comments section, about my article. They wanted to know if I would be willing to post their response. I said I preferred a little back and forth to a one-sided response, and Shazam! I got an interview with Robert Greenwald, director of "Outfoxed" and the driving force behind BNF. ...
