2010: The Year Sarah Palin Became Queen of All Media

Move on over, Oprah. There's a new media queen in town. In a feat that may have seemed impossible at the conclusion of 2009, Sarah Palin became an even more visible national personality in 2010. After she and Republican presidential nominee John McCain lost the 2008 election by some 8 million votes to Barack Obama and Joe Biden, it may have seemed that Palin would simply fade out of the national spotlight and return to Alaska politics. And when Palin abruptly announced in July 2009 that she was quitting her job as Alaska's governor, little more than two years after being elected, many ...

It's Not Really Sarah Palin's Alaska Anymore, Poll Finds

Is the love affair between Sarah Palin and Alaska over? The former governor of the "Last Frontier" and potential 2012 presidential candidate is pretty unpopular in the state that serves as a backdrop for her TLC reality show, according to a recent survey from Public Policy Polling. In the poll, Alaskans gave an overwhelmingly cold response to Palin, with 58 percent giving her an unfavorable rating and 33 percent giving her a thumbs up. The only state among the 10 surveyed that showed less love for the "mama grizzly" was Massachusetts. The pollsters also offered this interesting point to ...

Joe Scarborough: Palin's Presidential Aspirations Are a 'Dopey Dream'

(Nov. 30) -- How about a little tough love with your "Morning Joe"? MSNBC personality Joe Scarborough used his latest Politico column to unload criticism on presumed presidential aspirant Sarah Palin, in the process telling conservatives that it's high time to "man up" against the Alaskan mama grizzly and her "dopey dream" of making it to the White House. "Republicans have a problem," Scarborough writes. "The most-talked-about figure in the GOP is a reality show star who cannot be elected. And yet the same leaders who fret that Sarah Palin could devastate their party in 2012 are too scared ...

Sarah Palin: 'We Gotta Stand With Our North Korean Allies'

Sarah Palin: 'We Gotta Stand With Our North Korean Allies'

(Nov. 24) -- Who can keep track? On Wednesday, Sarah Palin weighed in on the recent military attacks by North Korea against South Korea. Appearing on fellow Fox News contributor Glenn Beck's radio show, for just a moment, her position didn't exactly fall in line with accepted U.S. foreign policy. "This speaks to a bigger picture here that certainly scares me in terms of our national security policy," Palin said. "But obviously we've gotta stand with our North Korean allies." To which the host replied: "South Korea." In all fairness, as a frequent public speaker, Palin is entitled to the ...

'I Just Tweet, That's Just the Way I Roll' and Other Highlights of the NYT's Palin Profile

(Nov. 17) -- First encounters with the Republican elite, Twitter and the non-existent hierarchy of Palin's inner circle are just a few topics covered in Robert Draper's new Mama Grizzly profile -- "The Palin Network" -- published Wednesday on The New York Times website and available this weekend in print from The New York Times Magazine. Rather than serve up the usual healthy dose of Sarah Palin tabloid gold (see Willow's homophobic Facebook slurs, Bristol advancing on "Dancing With The Stars" and the 67-year-old Wisconsin man who shot his television after Bristol's performance for today's ...

Sarah Palin vs. the World: Who's on Her Side?

(Nov. 1) -- On the eve of the 2010 midterm elections and potentially historic Republican gains, one former GOP politician who isn't even running is sure managing to attract a whole lot of attention, and not necessarily of the most flattering kind. So what happened to Sarah Palin? In fact, if one were to believe recent accounts in what Palin terms the "lamestream media," the former governor of Alaska would seem to have an enemies list as long as a Manhattan phone book. Surge Desk has a look at who is hating on the "mama grizzly" this time: Establishment Republicans On Sunday night, Politico ...

Palin Says She'll Run if 'Nobody Else' Steps Up

Oct. 29 -- In the unlikely event that no one else worthy from her party steps forward, Sarah Palin says she will run for president of the United States in 2012. Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate, has teased crowds during the midterm campaign about a possible White House candidacy in two years. "If there's nobody else to do it, then of course, I believe we should so this," she told Entertainment Tonight. "For me, it's going to entail a discussion with my family, a real close look at the lay of the land." ...

Karl Rove Comment on Palin Sends Americans Searching for 'Gravitas' Definition

(Oct. 28) -- Let's get this out of the way at the very start: Merriam-Webster defines the word "gravitas" as follows: noun --- high seriousness (as in a person's bearing or in the treatment of a subject) On Thursday, after Republican strategist Karl Rove told a British newspaper that retired Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin lacked the "gravitas" to ever become president, thousands of people across the country flocked to computers to try to find out just how big of an insult Rove had made. In fact, for much of the day, the terms "gravitas" and "gravitas definition" remained two of the top 10 Hot ...

Karl Rove Slams Palin for President

Karl Rove Slams Palin for President

(Oct. 28) -- Tell us how you really feel about her, Karl. In an interview with the British newspaper The Telegraph, Karl Rove, President George W. Bush's so-called "brain," offered a few thoughts about Sarah Palin. Essentially, Rove argues that Palin, who left office midway through her first term in office as governor of Alaska, doesn't have what it takes to be elected president. Surveying the prospective field of candidates, Rove told the Telegraph, "You can make a plausible case for any of them on paper, but it is not going to be paper in 2011. It's going to be blood, it's going to be ...
