So it was a rare moment today when Apple CEO Steve Jobs said his company "screwed up" on its iPhone antenna and will offer customers free bumper cases to solve problems with the phone's reception. It was a free solution to a public--relations disaster that has become not-so-affectionately known as "antennagate." But the apology did not roll easily off Jobs' tongue.
