Arizona Immigration Law Likely to Factor into Governor's Race

Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard, an opponent of the tough law cracking down on illegal immigrants signed last week by GOP Gov. Jan Brewer, holds a slight lead over her in his race to win her job, and also runs ahead of other Republicans hoping to get their party's nomination, according to a Public Policy Polling survey conducted April 23-25. Goddard runs ahead of Brewer by 47 percent to 44 percent with 10 percent undecided, within the poll's 3.4 point margin of error. Democrat Loses Ground in Arizona Governor's Race

The four Republicans, including incumbent Jan Brewer, who are running for Arizona governor have all either moved ahead or gained ground on Democrat Terry Goddard, the state's attorney general, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted April 15. Brewer, who has been buffeted by budget woes and battles with her own party, now leads Goddard by 44 percent to 40 percent with 9 percent preferring another candidate and 6 percent undecided.
