Family of Missing Maine Mother Pleads for Her Safe Return

Krista Dittmeyer is happy and outgoing, a single mother who loves her baby daughter. She is also someone who doesn't have enemies who would want to harm her, her mother and sister said today, pleading for her safe return. Dittmeyer, of Portland, Maine, last spoke to her relatives on Friday, and her mother was expecting her on Easter Sunday. But she vanished overnight. Her black Nissan Sentra was found at 6:30 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Cranmore Mountain Resort in Conway, N.H., about 65 miles from her home. Her 14-month-old daughter, Aliyah, had been left asleep in the abandoned ...

On 'Today' Again, Katie Couric Says She's 'Excited About Future'

Matt Lauer wound up with a softball for Katie Couric this morning as the pair were reunited on NBC's "Today" show. "Have you heard any good rumors lately?" a teasing Lauer asked. "No, have you?" Couric answered her former co-host with a laugh, refusing to take the bait and reveal whether she'll be leaving "CBS Evening News" when her contract expires in June. Couric returned to the top-rated show, for only the second time since leaving in 2006, to talk about her new book, "The Best Advice I Ever Got: Lessons From Extraordinary Lives." She insisted she hasn't yet decided about her next career ...

Family of Slain Whale Trainer Defers to SeaWorld

They lost their loved one to a killer whale, but relatives of trainer Dawn Brancheau have no unkind words for SeaWorld's decision to return Tilikum to performing at the popular tourist attraction in Florida last week. Brancheau, a 40-year-old trainer at SeaWorld Orlando, was killed Feb. 24, 2010, when the 6-ton whale dragged her into the water by her ponytail, tossed her violently and drowned her before a horrified crowd. Her siblings today recalled her love for the whale and said they know she'd want what's best for Tilikum, whom SeaWorld says is performing once again. Visit ...

American Apparel Accuser Hid Alleged Sex Slavery Out of Shame

The woman who filed a $250 million lawsuit accusing the founder of American Apparel of turning her into a teenage sex slave said she stayed quiet because she was ashamed and assumed such alleged behavior was virtually standard in the high-flying worlds of retail and fashion. Irene Morales, 20, claimed in a lawsuit last week that CEO Dov Charney demanded she "send him sexually explicit photographs" in 2007 when she was a 17-year-old sales clerk for the apparel chain, and forced her to perform sex acts for eight months after she turned 18. At one point, she alleged, he held her prisoner for ...

Parents of Nancy Cooper Seek Answers in Husband's Murder Trial

Separating from her husband and hoping to sell their house in North Carolina, Nancy Cooper wanted to return home to her family in Canada. "I held her in my arms. I had her in my arms, and she was sobbing," her mother, Donna Rentz, recalled during an interview this morning on NBC's "Today" show, describing their last visit together. "She said, 'Mom, I just want to come home,' but we couldn't do it." Cooper, a 34-year-old mother of two young girls, disappeared in July 2008. Her partially clad body was found two days later near a storm drain in an undeveloped area of Wake County, N.C., a short ...

99-Year-Old Recalls Risking Life for Holocaust Survivors [VIDEO]

The "Today" show has previewed a documentary about a remarkable woman who told the world the harrowing story of a group of Holocaust survivors fleeing Europe. Jewish-American photojournalist Ruth Gruber was 36 and working for the New York Herald Tribune in 1947 when she was sent to document the plight of 4,500 refugees aboard the Exodus, which was bombed by British ships enforcing a blockade. The Jewish passengers on the Exodus -- all of whom had escaped death camps -- would have been sent back to Germany if not for Gruber's photos, which spread around the world. Visit msnbc.com for ...

Charlie Sheen Interview Quotes: The 10 Most Insane Things He's Said So Far [VIDEOS]

So much crazy, so little time. Charlie Sheen, as you may have heard, has been running around saying lots of wacky things since last week's radio interview with Alex Jones, in which he lashed out at "Two and a Half Men" producer Chuck Lorre (and Thomas Jefferson, who's not involved with the show). We've collected 10 of our favorite, if that's the right word, Sheen quotes from recent days. 1. "I am on a drug, it's called Charlie Sheen. It's not available, 'cause if you try it once, you will die. Your face will melt off and your children will weep over your exploded body." From "20/20" ...
