A War Crimes Trial Opens Without Defendant
By Dana Chivvis - AOL NewsThe trial of Radovan Karadzic, the former Bosnian Serb leader on trial for war crimes in The Hague, has begun without him, the latest attempt by the court to advance a case beset by delays. Karadzic, who is representing himself at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, on Tuesday refused to show up for a second day in a row. He told the court in a letter last week that he hasn't had enough time to prepare his defense.
