Gaston Caperton Interested in Filling Robert Byrd's Senate Seat
By Jill Lawrence - Politics DailyOne of the most prominent names in the mix to be a short-term senator from West Virginia is Gaston Caperton, a former two-term Democratic governor who is now president of The College Board in New York. Caperton is indicating interest in serving until the state elects a successor to the late Sen. Robert Byrd in November.
