Latest Wisconsin Senate Poll: Feingold Has Small Edge on Thompson

Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold holds a narrow 48 percent to 44 percent lead over former Gov. Tommy Thompson should Thompson choose to jump into Wisconsin's senate race, according to a Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll conducted March 22-24. Eight percent are undecided and the margin of error is 4 points. Two other recent surveys -- Public Policy Polling and Rasmussen Reports --have shown the race to be close with Feingold ahead in one and Thompson in the other, but both by amounts within the margins of error. GOP Needs Tommy Thompson to Run to Make Wisconsin Senate Race Competitive

The latest poll on the impact former Gov. Tommy Thompson would have on Wisconsin's Senate sweepstakes if he jumps into the race shows Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold with a slim 47 percent to 44 percent lead over Thompson with 9 percent undecided, according to a Public Policy Polling survey conducted March 20-21. The margin of error is 3.7 points. Feingold had led Thompson, 50 percent to 41 percent, in PPP's November poll.
