Wyoming elections

Wyoming

Even though Wyoming is known as one of the reddest of red states, three of its last four governors have been Democrats. The Aug. 17 primary attracted a flock of Republicans determined to change the trend. Former U.S. Attorney Matt Mean narrowly won the GOP primary to face former state Democratic Party chief Leslie Peterson in November. The winner will succeed Gov. Dave Freudenthal, who can't run again because of term limits.Wyoming's only House seat is expected to remain Republican as Rep. Cynthia Lummis seeks a second term. There is no Senate race in the Cowboy State this year. McCain won Wyoming in 2008.
