Powell and current Secretary of State Hillary Clinton presided over the unveiling of the portrait, which will hang with those of the other former secretaries of State in the secretary's suite of offices. When Powell was introduced to speak in the Ben Franklin room on the top floor at the department, the crowd cheered and applauded loudly. Powell was surrounded his immediate family -- wife Alma Powell, daughter Linda Powell, son Michael Powell, daughter-in-law ...
A big, honkn' fuss has been made lately over Andy Card's call for a "dress code of honor." I guess he's moonlighting as a writer for Wheel of Fortune's "Before & After" category. You know, like "Grand Old Party Like a Rock Star."The Huffington Post responded by digging up a picture of Bush in the Oval, sans jacket. Sure, like that's the real argument here. (My colleague, David Knowles, is exempt from this criticism, as he was just providing our page with relevant content.) They went on to produce a slide show of a mess of other presidents in similarly casual Ovarian attire. The left does this ...
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales took umbrage with the widespread public disapproval of his performance in office. "What is it that I did that is so fundamentally wrong," Gonzales asked, "that deserves this kind of response to my service?" Gonzales reserved his harshest criticism for James Comey, the man who was acting Attorney General when Gonzales, ...
The Washington Post reports that Justice Department Inspector General Glenn Fine will not refer former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to a federal grand jury for his role in the U.S. Attorneys purge. A report, written by another official in the department, however, calls for a prosecutor to investigate the firings. According to report, current Attorney General Michael Mukasey will name a prosecutor from within the department. The controversy over the firings began in December of 2006, when eight U.S. attorneys were fired. Though firing U.S. Attorneys is the prerogative of the President, ...
These two clips speak for themselves. First, Karl Rove:Then, Andy Card:Incredible that Rove was back at it on Fox News Sunday. Even Ari Fleischer says the Democrats aren't to blame for the rush to war. Perhaps there's some history that Rove can't re-write, after all. Why is Rove pushing such patently false nonsense? Simple, the public hates the war. So, blame the Democrats and maybe, just maybe, Republicans will have an easier time come November. ...
