Immigration Law Signing Boosts Jan Brewer in Arizona Governor Race

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, who had been entangled in the state's budget woes and fights with members of her own party, is riding a wave of support in the race for the GOP gubernatorial nomination following her signing of the state's tough new immigration law, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted May 17. McCain, Brewer Leading Their GOP Primary Opponents in Arizona

In Arizona's pair of GOP primary races, Sen. John McCain still has a double-digit lead over former conservative talk show host J.D. Hayworth although he's slipped under 50 percent support, while Gov. Jan Brewer leads the field of fellow Republicans who want her job, according to a Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll conducted May 3-5.
