Jan Brewer, who had been entangled in the state's budget woes and fights with members of her own party, is riding a wave of support in the race for the GOP gubernatorial nomination following her signing of the state's tough new immigration law, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted May 17. Brewer's support among likely primary voters has rocketed from 26 percent in mid April, about 10 days before she signed the legislation, to 45 percent in the new survey, giving her leads of 27 points or more over her challengers. Hayworth although he's slipped under 50 percent support, while Gov. Jan Brewer leads the field of fellow Republicans who want her job, according to a Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll conducted May 3-5.
