Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown has decided the time is right to publicly reveal a secret he has kept inside for many years. In an interview scheduled to air on CBS's "60 Minutes" on Sunday, the Republican congressman reflects openly for the first time on his childhood hardships, including episodes of abuse from his stepfather and being sexually assaulted by a camp counselor when he was 10 years old. "Fortunately, nothing was ever fully consummated, so to speak," Brown told correspondent Leslie Stahl. "It was certainly, back then, very traumatic." Brown also mentioned that he has never ...

Woman Samaritan Helps Save Cop From Beating

(Dec. 15) -- When the going gets tough, it's time to help out your local police officer. An Ohio cop is thankful for the community spirit of a woman who helped save him from a violent assault during a routine traffic stop. Jonathan Seiter was locked in a scuffle with a driver last weekend after a discussion about a missing headlight turned violent. The fight, captured on a camera sitting on Seiter's dashboard, went on for more than a minute, with the assailant grabbing for Seiter's stun gun. Then, a passing woman appeared out of nowhere. She beat the assailant about the head and soon Seiter ...

NEW YORK (Oct. 8) -- Seven suspected members of a Bronx, N.Y., street gang have been arrested and charged with anti-gay hate crimes for sadistic sexual attacks on two 17-year-old boys, including one aspiring gang member, and a 30-year-old man, police say. Stonewall Inn Anti-Gay Beating: What Constitutes a Hate Crime?

(Oct. 5) -- In the early hours of Sunday morning, two presumably straight men beat up a gay man in the bathroom of the Stonewall Inn, New York's most iconic gay bar, famed for the 1969 riots against police persecution that many credit with kicking off the modern gay rights movement. As the victim, Benjamin Carver, described the incident, his two attackers were in the bathroom when Carver went to relieve himself. One said, "Don't pee next to me, f-----," and they demanded money from Carver before attacking him. Matthew Francis and Christopher Orlando were promptly arrested and have been ...
