"We want to stop this madness as soon as possible," Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee Jr. said at a news conference Monday. Seven women have been sexually assaulted and an eighth was a victim of an attempted rape since the year began, police said, according to the Detroit Free Press. The bodies of two women who were half-naked and choked to death have been found within a mile of each other in the last three weeks, a local NBC affiliate reported.
