Banks, Credit-Card Issuers Warn of Security Breach

NEW YORK -- With the possible theft of millions of email addresses from an advertising company, several large companies have started warning customers to expect fraudulent emails that try to coax account login information from them. Companies behind such brands as Chase, Citi and Best Buy said over the weekend that hackers may have learned their email addresses because of a security breach at a Dallas-based company called Epsilon that manages email communications. The email addresses could be used to target spam. It's also a standard tactic among online fraudsters to send emails to random ...

Opinion: Will Clamshell Packaging Ever Change?

Think about it: Have you ever met a single person who didn't launch into a five-minute tirade when asked to comment on the subject of clamshell packaging? You know, the annoying, seemingly indestructible material that protects, say, a flash drive better than the Army protects Fort Knox and is responsible for thousands of emergency room visits every year? Minneapolis Star Tribune / MCT Maybe you haven't heard of "wrap rage," but you've probably felt it when trying to open seemingly impenetrable clamshell packaging of toys and electronics. Yet, even though almost everyone on the ...

The Target Boycott Dilemma: Where to Shop Now?

The news that Target donated $150,000 to a group supporting an anti-gay Minnesota gubernatorial candidate presents a conundrum. Growing up in the Midwest, one of the highlights of the Sunday newspaper was the Target circular: What's on sale this week? When my stepdaughter moved to Grand Junction, Colo., for a time a few years ago, her first complaint was this: "There's only one Target." Even jaded Manhattanites are reveling in the opening of their first Target store in East Harlem. There's something about the tidy, bright aisles of clothing, cosmetics, kitchenware, household goods -- well, ...

Target Hit With Boycott by Gay-Rights Activists Over Political Donation

Gay-rights activists are cutting up their Target credit cards and demonstrating outside the retail giant's stores to protest the company's donation to a political group backing Minnesota Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer, who is against same-sex marriage. Target contributed $150,000 to MN Forward, a pro-business group that has endorsed and is paying for ads for Emmer, ABC News reported. The boycott got a major boost Tuesday when MoveOn.org, the Democratic political advocacy group, said it would help with the petition drive to spread the boycott, according to Reuters. On his Web ...

No. 20 Fans Rejoice When Stewart Finally Speaks

Tony Stewart has been pretty much MIA for any questions from the media in a few of the past Nextel Cup events in the Chase.Currently, the Home Deport Chevrolet sits fourth in series points, 249 points back of the series leader Jeff Gordon. Now, I fully realize that Stewart's rule about attending media sessions was clarified after Phoenix this year, and from that I know that he doesn't have to talk to anyone unless he finishes in the top-3.Let's just say that the top-3 has been elusive for the Indiana driver during the Chase for the Nextel Cup.Regardless, it just doesn't seem fair to Tony's fans ...
