Click here to visit the new home of Politics Daily! Two years ago, during the presidential campaign, the so-called mainstream media threw out all pretenses of objectivity and slobbered all over the candidate they wanted to win, Barack Obama. This year the bill came due for their corruption. And President Obama got stuck with it. It wasn't just Chris Matthews' embarrassing admission that he "felt this thrill going up my leg" when he heard candidate Obama speak. Chris is entitled to comment. He's a commentator, after all. But this wasn't political commentary. This was a man crush. And it wasn't just David Gergen's observation on CNN that Mr. ...
(Nov. 5) -- Like a bad segment on MSNBC's "Countdown," the Keith Olbermann suspension episode (which may rapidly transition into the Keith Olbermann firing episode) just keeps on getting more outlandish. Late this afternoon, the unapologetically left- (sorry, "forward") leaning cable news show host was unceremoniously suspended by his network without pay, indefinitely, following the revelation that he gave undisclosed campaign contributions to Democratic candidates running in the 2010 midterms. Hours later, his supposed interim replacement, Chris Hayes, was yanked from the show as well, but ...
(Sept. 24) -- The Texas State Board of Education approved a resolution today that requires publishers to correct a "pro-Islamic/anti-Christian bias" in future world history textbooks. The resolution, which narrowly passed 7-6, cites instances of an alleged emphasis on unfavorable events in Christian history as told in school textbooks, while claiming that the same textbooks gloss over similar events in Islamic history. "What we're trying to do is prohibit and send a clear message to the publishers that [the bias] should not happen in the future," board member Terri Leo said. The Lone Star ...
By now, you've certainly read about Susan Roesgen and seen the video of her pathetic, biased, despicable farce masquerading as tea party coverage. PJTV has an excellent video available here which takes Roesgen and her terrible performance to pieces. One of the most illuminating moments is a segment she ran a few years back at a liberal protest. In her tea party segment, Roesgen is indignantly offended by a sign depicting Obama as Hitler. She considers it not family viewing. Her distaste is written on her face, expressed by her demeanor, and explictly discussed in her own words. Roesgen defends ...
The LA Times Speaks: "The Los Angeles Times did not publish the videotape because it was provided to us by a confidential source who did so on the condition that we not release it," said the newspaper's editor, Russ Stanton. "The Times keeps its promises to sources." Jamie Gold, the newspaper's readers' representative, said in a statement: "More than six months ago the Los Angeles Times published a detailed account of the events shown on the videotape. The Times is not suppressing anything. Just the opposite -- the L.A. Times brought the matter to light." The original article said that Obama's ...
Questions are now arising about Gwen Ifill, host of Washington Week, and a usual at moderating debates. She is now being accused of being "in the tank" (another overused phrase) for Barack Obama on the basis of writing a book that will sell well only if Obama wins in November. FOXNews.comIn her book, Ifill contends that the black political structure of the civil rights movement has cleared the way for post-racial politicians to ascend to new heights...."Clearly her books aren't going to do as well unless Obama wins, so it looks like she has some investment, literally, in one candidate or the ...
Sounds like McCain campaign manager Steve Schmidt has had it. The Obama campaign's response, apparently, is to compare Schmidt with Bob Dole who in 1996, when he had had it with the liberal media had his own moment: ...
Terrorist fist jabs and now Obama Baby Mama? Fox News Channel's "Fair and Balanced" moniker has always been open to interpretation. It's widely recognized that they have a decidedly right tilt since it's inception - a antidote to the left-wing media. And they have a huge audience... Fox's coverage of the Democratic primary campaign was a study in funny. Hillary Clinton, the most hated female in Democratic politics since Eleanor Roosevelt, became a conservative darling while Barack Obama was consistently portrayed in the worst light possible. Every scurrilous rumor and chain email was duly ...
Governor, I heard from Will Bunch at the Philadelphia Daily News' Attytood you were on Fox News this morning - on that goofy show with that Doocy guy (a name that many people rhyme with a feminine hygiene product). The same program that Fox's own Chris Wallace trashed last week for it's obsession with the Reverend Wright debacle. You said this: I think during this entire primary coverage, starting in Iowa and up to the present -- FOX has done the fairest job, and remained the most objective of all the cable networks. You hate both of our candidates. No, I'm only kidding. But you actually ...
On Friday night, Helen Thomas gave a rousing keynote speech for the Women, Action and the Media conference at MIT. We were too far in the back to get good video or photos (we'll post those when we find some), but here are a few things she said that we jotted down: On media bias:"Hillary is getting a bad rap with the media. Obama is walking on water with the media . . . Being racist is more verboten than being anti-woman." On the nine presidents she's covered as a member of the press corps:JFK: "My favorite."LBJ: "Bigger than life."Nixon: "When he had two roads to go down, he always took the ...
