Cops: Man Bought Printer From Walmart to Make Fake Money

For many shoppers, a trip to Walmart can be a way to save money. But for Douglas Brian Osborne, it was allegedly a way to make money -- using a printer to counterfeit $600 in funny money. Investigators in Gainesville, Fla., say Osborne purchased a printer from the Lake City megastore on March 10 and promptly attempted to pass off the bogus bucks before being busted later that day, The Gainesville Sun reports. The 30-year-old suspect allegedly tried to spend this fabricated fortune at Stubbies & Stein's restaurant. But an employee apparently refused to accept the questionable cash, so ...

Bills at Chiefs Preview, Score and More

Bills at Chiefs Preview, Score and More

The worry before the season when Coach Todd Haley formed a backfield platoon with Thomas Jones and Jamaal Charles was whether the two could co-exist having to share the ball all the time. Nearing the midway point of the season, the arrangement not only is working -- both players and the team are thriving. The Chiefs are taking the league's top-ranked rushing attack into Sunday's game against the winless Buffalo Bills, who are giving up a league-high 174.5 yards rushing per game. Jones has a few more carries than Charles and the two are less than 30 yards apart in yardage gained -- Charles ...

Senate Fails to Repeal 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell': Instant Reactions

(Sept. 21) -- Voting 56-43, the Senate failed to reach cloture regarding the controversial defense authorization bill that includes a provision that would have paved the way for ending the divisive policy of "don't ask, don't tell," which prohibits homosexuals from serving openly in the U.S. military and was recently ruled unconstitutional in federal court. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., spearheaded the arguments against the cloture motion, contending that the Democrats' attempts to move toward repealing "don't ask, don't tell" were campaign driven and that the issue lacked the necessary ...

Studs and Duds, Week 6: Back to Brady

Each week in the NFL, there are players that impress and players that distress. One week a certain quarterback might toss four touchdowns and run around pointing skyward, while the next he's laying on his back, holding his facemask as the other team returns one of his three interceptions for the game-winning score. With that in mind, here's Studs and Duds.StudsTom Brady, QB New England (29 of 34, 380 yards, 6 TDs) -- People were questioning his knee this season. He seemed jittery in the pocket, made throws he didn't used to make, and wasn't leading the Patriots like he had during those three ...

Hillary Has Bills

Hillary Has Bills

And I'm sure she could use help from Obama to pay down some serious campaign debt: The clock is ticking fast on her personal loan, made to her campaign after Super Tuesday, due to federal laws meant to keep politicians from lining their own pockets with contributions from contributors. The last day Clinton can solicit contributions to repay the personal debt is Aug. 28 - the day Obama is set to be nominated at the Democratic convention. After that, Clinton can't be reimbursed by more than $250,000 - a tiny fraction of her outstanding loan. Some reports have speculated that the personal ...

Hillary the Freeloader

Hillary the Freeloader

If Hillary comes to town and requests services, make sure you get paid upfront. In cash. From the Politico via TPM: "I feel insulted by the way that the campaign treated this company and treated us personally," said the employee, who did not want to be named talking about a client. The Clinton campaign paid the company $16,500 to set up a stage, press riser, sound system and backdrops at a Youngstown high school last month for a raucous union rally, where an aggressive Clinton stump speech drew thunderous applause. But the Clinton campaign has yet to pay Forty Two for two other February ...
