Ryan David Jopek, very much approves of Senator Barack Obama's mention of her son during Friday's debate. From The AP:She acknowledges e-mailing the campaign in February asking that Obama not mention her son in speeches or debates. But she says Obama's mention on Friday was appropriate because he was responding after Senator John McCain said a soldier's mother gave him a bracelet. The bracelet was given to Obama by the mother of fallen Sgt. Ryan Jopek in February of this year and bears his name. Obama first referred to the bracelet after he won the Wisconsin Democratic primary, and has worn it and mentioned Sgt. Jopek occasionally throughout the campaign. McCain has been using the bracelet line many times over the campaign, it's a standard part of his stump, and an effective one too. The Obama camp clearly wanted a response to that, and so they crafted one here.So there's two parts to the gaffe; one was the immediate response, "I have a bracelet too..." which made it sound lame and childish.
