Why Mike Pence Could Steal Sarah Palin's Thunder

Why Mike Pence Could Steal Sarah Palin's Thunder

"If Mike Pence keeps talking, the left will soon have to stop talking about Sarah Palin." That's according to the Detroit News' Nolan Finley's latest editorial. Finley goes on to note that "Mike Pence is no Sarah Palin. And that should worry the daylights out of the left." (Pence had recently spoken at the Detroit Economic Club.) The Pence admiration, of course, is not limited to one reporter in Michigan. Though the Indiana congressman says he won't decide whether to run for president until next year, conservative leaders I spoke to were equally as bullish on him. Chris Chocola, president ...

'NewsBusters' Website Turns Five Today

NewsBusters, the media 'watchdog' website created to document and expose liberal bias in the media, turns five today. When the conservative Media Research Center (MRC) launched the site in 2005, this sort of collaboration between a blog and a traditional think tank was not common. 40,000 posts later, Technorati now ranks NewsBusters at the #8 spot for top political blogs. The JournoList was an online forum through which liberal journalists and academics would share information. It was recently shut down after controversial e-mails were leaked to The Daily Caller. One Post reporter -- David Weigel -- resigned amid controversy over e-mails he sent via the ...

The 7 Sins of Octavia Nasr's Hezbollah Tweet

(July 8) -- Does this sound like a fireable offense? "Sad to hear of the passing of Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah.. One of Hezbollah's giants I respect a lot. #Lebanon" For Octavia Nasr, apparently it was. At the time of her tweet, which has been deleted, she was CNN's senior Middle East editor, a crucial position for any international news organization. But she was reportedly axed on Wednesday after controversy and criticism erupted over what appeared to be high praise for a spiritual leader with ties to Hezbollah, which the United States and Israel consider a terrorist ...

Conservatives Launch a New Statement of Faith

Almost five decades ago, at the Sharon, Connecticut estate of William F. Buckley, the founding principles of conservatism -- dubbed the Sharon Statement -- were crafted by some 90 young conservative intellectuals. This coming Wednesday, February 17 -- on the eve of the Conservative Political Action Conference's annual gathering -- eighty established conservative leaders will sign a new document intended to renew those principles. Written by M. Stanton Evans, and adopted on September 11, 1960, the Sharon Statement was launched during the inaugural meeting of Young Americans for Freedom. These ...
