Considering that billionaire Meg Whitman defeated rival billionaire Steve Poizner by nearly 40 percentage points on Tuesday to become the Republican nominee for governor in California, that question may be difficult to answer. What is certain, though, is that Whitman spent a record $81 million in the primary race, $71 million of it from her own personal fortune.
