WASHINGTON -- One day after Rep. Christopher Lee was exposed for his bare-chested lie on Craigslist and resigned his House seat, conservative women gathered here today sought to paint him as an exception.
"You know, I don't know what he was thinking," said Paula Tyler of the conservative website Smart Girl Politics, speaking above the din of the exhibit hall at CPAC, the annual gathering of conservative activists. "I don't understand that kind of behavior."

This wasn't the first time.
Constituents in U.S. Rep. Chris Lee's district have seen scandal from New York politicians before. So when they watched their congressman implode after a gossip site published topless photos of Lee that the married Republican sent to a woman on Craigslist, they said it all felt sadly familiar.
"This isn't the first time this has happened to us, you know. It's embarrassing," Zophia Swiderek of Dansville, N.Y., told AOL News today.

What started last month with an anonymous woman's Craigslist dating search for men who don't "look like toads" ended Wednesday with the resignation of two-term Rep.
