A senior manager at the New York fashion house Elie Tahari claims he had a mental breakdown after being forced to travel to New Jersey for work and is suing the company for $2 million. Thomas Horodecki says he was discriminated against by his Israeli bosses and passed over for promotions at work because he was Christian and Polish. But the New York fashion executive says the company took the alleged discrimination a bridge too far when it banished him to franchises in New Jersey after he complained. In an interview with the New York Post, Horodecki, 36, says his weekly trips to New Jersey ...

As it was for many people, the 2008 recession was a bad time for filmmaker Steve Moramarco. "My life was literally in the toilet for about a year, personally and professionally," he told AOL News. "Everything was dead. As an actor, I had no auditions and there was basically no work. I was so underwater on my mortgage, I might as well have been a scuba diver, and my girlfriend left." In better days, Moramarco had worked with Jack Black on films like "School of Rock" and was an associate producer on "Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny." He also had the honor of appearing on the flip side of ...

LOS ANGELES -- Elizabeth "Lizzy" Seeberg was a college freshman with a wide-open smile – here is a heartbreaking photo of her in spaghetti straps and pearls – who built houses with Habitat for Humanity and hoped to become a nurse. Lizzy also suffered from depression, and 10 days after telling friends and campus cops that she'd been sexually assaulted by a University of Notre Dame football player, rape crisis volunteers who knew she had missed a counseling session found her barely breathing in her dorm room. The 19-year-old daughter of serious Catholics and prominent volunteers in ...
(Nov. 11) -- Allowing your mind to drift may seem like a pleasant escape from that report you're writing for the boss or the junk you're clearing from the garage. But a new study says daydreaming actually lowers happiness. In research out today, scientists report that people who are focused on the task at hand -- no matter how boring or aggravating -- are happier than people whose thoughts are wandering to something else. Even pleasant daydreams don't lift mood very much. "A lot of us have the intuition that when we're doing something that's not very enjoyable, if we can escape somewhere ...
(Nov. 10) -- Does it seem like most people are just a tad on edge lately? According to the findings of "Stress in America," an annual survey conducted by Harris Interactive in conjunction with the American Psychological Association, three-fourths of the American population suffer from unhealthy levels of stress. "America is at a critical crossroads when it comes to stress and our health," Norman B. Anderson, Ph.D., CEO and executive vice president of the American Psychological Association, said in the report's press release. "Year after year, nearly three-quarters of Americans say they ...
"Tribute to Her," uploaded to the Internet on Nov. 7, 2008, is a slideshow of Election Day photographs. YouTube member SailorBrownie described her post as a "dedication to all those Black Americans who went out on Tuesday and voted. We made history." While it's not altogether clear who is the "Her" in the title of the video, it might as well be the woman collapsed on the floor in tears. A girl nearby touches her cheek with a little confusion and a lot tenderness for the woman who is, most likely, her mother. The pictures are set to the Beatles song, "Blackbird" -- a good choice, considering ...
