Bill Clinton, Anthony Hopkins, Drew Carey: Who's the Biggest Loser?

(Sept. 23) -- Farewell, excess baggage. Bill Clinton, Anthony Hopkins and Drew Carey, three men whose names have rarely been used in the same sentence, have all embarked on strict diets that have resulted in headline-grabbing physical changes. Their shrinking waistlines come at a time when more and more Americans are fighting the battle of the bulge. According to a study released this week by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, 75 percent of all U.S. residents will be either obese or overweight by 2020, making the United States the world's fattest country. Clinton,...

Former Showtime Boxing Boss Jay Larkin Dies at Age 59

Former Showtime Boxing Boss Jay Larkin Dies at Age 59

Lisa Larkin recalls the statement like it was yesterday, even though her husband, Jay, made it nearly a decade ago. "Jay said that pork chops would be growing on the palm trees of Tel Aviv before Mike Tyson would be allowed to fight on HBO," said Lisa Larkin of Jay, a former Showtime senior vice president who spent 22 years with the network until November of 2005. The Supporters Sing, MLS Listens

SEATTLE -- It's common knowledge that soccer fans are a bit of a different breed. They care less about comfort and more about spectacle. The sight of a whole section of supporters singing, waiving enormous flags and lighting flares would be shocking at Yankee Stadium or Heinz Field, yet it's expected at soccer venues around the world and is becoming relatively common in MLS. That passion also affects change -- executives know it's not a good idea to upset these people.More so than any other American sports league, MLS has embraced that relationship. While fans elsewhere struggle with nonsense...

Bob Ney's Redemption after Jack Abramoff Scandal

Those of us who were sucked into the wreckage left behind by Jack Abramoff share a form of PTSD -- Post Traumatic Scandal Disorder. When you go through a D.C. scandal together, you're like war buddies: You share an experience that no one else can understand, but you also remind each other of painful emotions. When we Abramoff scandal survivors see each other, we never discuss the topic – it's an open Department of Justice investigation after all – but we communicate with our eyes the shared understanding of shock and pain in our lives. So after not speaking to former Rep. Bob Ney (R-Ohio)...

Drew Carey, Kasey Keller Sound Off

The team with 'Tradition' printed on the backs of their jerseys, the one whose marketing campaign for Wednesday night's U.S. Open Cup final centered on a collection of trophies unsurpassed in this country, wound up being the side that appeared nervous and out of its depth. The visiting Seattle Sounders attacked D.C. United from the start with confidence and speed and were unlucky not to be ahead by two goals at the half. They sealed their first trophy when Fredy Montero scored in the 67th minute and D.C. goalie Josh Wicks lost his mind, jumped on the Colombian and was ejected.Seattle's...
