Yale University Police Investigate Report of Forced Drinking and Nudity

Police at Yale University are investigating a report of a "naked party" held off-campus by a senior society that may have involved forced, heavy drinking and possibly even a sexual assault, according to a school publication. The party was held Feb. 19 by the Pundits, Yale's senior prank society, the Yale Daily News reported. About 50 people attended the party during which they allegedly were told to disrobe. The party was part of the Pundits' "tap" process which involves "tapping" someone whom they want to invite to become a member. "The biggest problem, and what was dis-inhibiting people, ...

Cops Say Man Went Berserk After Realizing He Bought Drinks for Cross-Dressers

Josue Hernandez might want to wait until "ladies night" before showing his generosity at the bar. Police in Florida say the 27-year-old threw a fit early Saturday after realizing he hadn't been buying drinks for a group of women -- but instead had been flirting with "men dressed in women's clothing," according to deputies. Collier County Sheriff's Office Police say Josue Hernandez made a scene at a Florida bar after finding out the women he had been treating to drinks were really men in drag. Hernandez reportedly encountered the cross-dressers at a bar in Naples and chatted with ...

Bloomberg Apologizes for Crack About 'Inebriated' Irish

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has apologized for remarks he made to an Irish-American group stereotyping drunken celebrations on St. Patrick's Day. The mayor, addressing the American Irish Historical Society on Wednesday, quipped that he lives nearby the society offices and is used to seeing inebriated people spilling out of the Manhattan building on St. Patrick's Day. "Normally when I walk by this building there are a bunch of people that are totally inebriated hanging out the window waving," Bloomberg said. "I know, that's a stereotype of the Irish," he went on, as members of the ...

It's a brand-new year and many of us have resolved to eat more salad. And keeping that vow may easier than ever, since now there's a way to drink your greens, not just chew them. Brits' Traditional Pint of Beer Faces a Smaller Rival

First, Kate Middleton ditched a horse and carriage for a car as she planned her April royal wedding to Prince William, heir to the British throne. Now, in a further blow to local history and tradition, Her Majesty's government plans to introduce a foreign rival to the iconic British pint of beer. British politicians announced this week they will pass laws offering a new glass size to pubs that would allow beer drinkers to choose a "schooner," equal to two-thirds of a pint. Kirsty Wigglesworth, AP British pubgoers could soon ditch their traditional pint, seen here, in favor of a ...

George W. Bush on Alcohol: 'It Became a Love'

(Nov. 4) -- For the first time, George W. Bush has opened up about the years he spent as a lush. In an interview with NBC's Matt Lauer, Bush describes years of heavy drinking that caused embarrassing moments and even strained his relationship with his family. "It became a love and, therefore, began to compete for my love with my wife and my daughters," he said, according to People.com. "I wasn't a knee-walkin' drunk," Bush said in his interview with Lauer. "I could easily have a beer or two, or a martini, before dinner, bourbons, B&Bs. I was a drinker." In an interview promoting his ...

Messy Eater? Adult Bib Has You Covered

(Oct. 18) -- If you're one of those busy people who's always eating and drinking in the car, then you've probably spilled food or coffee all over yourself in the process. But now mobile diners can scarf down snacks without worry, thanks to "The Drib," an adult bib that has you covered -- from your neck down to your thighs, actually. The Drib, which resembles a cross between a bib and an apron, is made out of absorbent cotton lined with a special water-resistant material. Courtesy of Jill Clontz The Drib, which is basically an adult bib, is made for folks who eat and drink on the ...

New Gunpowder Booze Puts Hair on Your Chest, Sets It on Fire

New Gunpowder Booze Puts Hair on Your Chest, Sets It on Fire

(Oct. 15) -- Forget bacon, scorpions, even snake blood. This has to be the absolute manliest liquor infusion available anywhere: gunpowder rum. That's what's in Man O' War, an infusion that Wayne Curtis from the Atlantic Magazine reports is being sold by a bartender in New Zealand to local customers. He hasn't tried a more extensive business -- yet. Apparently, the gunpowder rum hearkens back to the rich pirate traditions of the South Pacific -- bartender Ben Simpson was inspired by Edward "Blackbeard" Teach's rumored consumption of an incendiary beverage to get his mates' attention, as well ...

Just Holding a Drink Makes You Seem Dumb, Study Says

Just Holding a Drink Makes You Seem Dumb, Study Says

(Sept. 15) -- It doesn't take a Mel Gibson tirade to know that people say dumb things when they're drunk. But new evidence shows that drinking is bad for your image even if you don't open your mouth. In fact, according to a working paper from the University of Michigan's Scott Rick and the University of Pennsylvania's Maurice Schweitzer, just holding a glass of alcohol makes you look stupid. It does not matter if you're male or female, or whether you drink beer or wine -- if people see you drinking, they think you're dumber than you'd otherwise appear. "It hurts you," Rick tells AOL News. ...

New Twist in Drunken Art World Mystery

(Sept. 2) -- It's never as simple as blaming the drunk guy. The mysterious story about the disappearance of a Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot painting took a strange new turn today when the criminal past of one of the painting's owners was revealed. Earlier this week, Kristyn Trudgeon, part owner of the Corot masterpiece "Portrait of a Girl," filed a lawsuit against art courier James Haggerty, who allegedly got drunk in a hotel bar and lost the $1.35 million painting in July. The Granger Collection "Portrait of a Girl" by Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, worth $1.35 million, was reportedly lost by ...
