Nook Color: Game Changer or Just Another E-Reader?

(Oct. 26) -- Tech bloggers began salivating over the Nook Color on Monday when the "Nook Color Screen Film Kit" accessory briefly appeared on barnesandnoble.com. Today, approximately one year after the bookseller introduced the original Nook, Barnes & Noble is expected to officially reveal its first color e-reader at a special media event in New York City. CNET News broke the story with inside information from a "reliable" tipster who told the website that the Nook Color will feature a 7-inch screen, operate on Google's Android platform and sell for $249. Is Apple's iPad Hurting PC Sales?

(Oct. 5) -- Contrary to earlier rumors of the doom-and-gloom sort, the good old-fashioned PC can consider itself safe from the iPad, at least for the time being. The study also showed that iPad owners are a tech-savvy bunch -- individuals who purchased the iPad within its first ...

Amazon head Jeff Bezos has also said, in an interview in USA Today, that he believes ...

E-Readers Are Rock Stars, but My Heart Belongs to Hardcovers

For my mother's 79th birthday later this month, her four children are going to give her an e-reader. We have yet to decide which one to give her, but she's very keen to join this trend. As a frequent traveler, and avid reader, she finds that she's always lugging 12 hard-cover books wherever she goes (often London to visit me!). So she'd like to lighten her load. Apparently, several of her friends already have e-readers and they are all thrilled with them. I have mixed feelings about this present. On the one hand, as someone who -- by her own admission -- barely has running water and ...
