Richard Lugar of Indiana visited Uganda's Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries on Wednesday as part of a three-country tour of East Africa assessing the "next generation" of threats to American security, according to The New York Times. New Treatment Could Eradicate Ebola Virus
By Katie Drummond - Politics Daily(May 28) -- An experimental new method, called "genetic silencing," could wipe out the deadly Ebola virus. Developed by a research team at Boston University, the approach completely eradicated Ebola infections among a test group of monkeys, and scientists anticipate similar results among humans. Genetic silencing works by snipping segments of RNA from samples of a given virus, and then packaging them into particles. Those particles are delivered via injection, and the RNA attaches to the viral cells and prevents them from replicating. But it doesn't actually kill the dangerous cells. ...
