The first, "Truth Be Told," airs Saturday on Fox. It's a romantic comedy about a relationship expert who fakes her own marriage to help a couple in trouble. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and the Procter & Gamble Co. are bankrolling the movies. They began the effort last year and have already been behind four family-friendly movies that have aired on broadcast networks. NBC will air the next four movies, starting June 11 with a sports drama that takes on the topic of ...
For the past two weeks, the news media have been swarming over Madison, Wis., covering every detail of the public-sector union protests against Gov. Scott Walker's proposed budget cuts, as well as other similar protests around the country. If you've followed the mainstream press, you've seen lots of civil protests, lots of interviews with reasonable teachers, pictures of signs about the need for quality education. But have they been giving viewers and readers the whole story? Not quite. Here's a sampling of what you likely missed: Scott Olson, Getty Images A protester holds a ...
LONDON -- A wily fox cub has been found enjoying the high life at the top of Britain's tallest skyscraper more than 900 feet above the city's streets. The bushy-tailed trespasser spent two weeks scampering around London's Shard tower, which is still under construction, and made his home on the 72nd floor. It's believed that the intrepid urban explorer, named Romeo by rescuers, dined on scraps left by construction workers before finally being caught by pest control officers earlier this month. Dan Kitwood, Getty Images Pest control workers were called in to remove a fox that made ...
Remember when the defining image of the Dodgers was of Kirk Gibson, struggling against his own body, doing the unthinkable and hitting a home run in the World Series against one of baseball's best pitchers? Welp, now the defining image of the Dodgers is of two old rich white people getting a divorce. Bud Selig vetoed a proposed loan of about $200 million from FOX to Dodgers owner Frank McCourt, the Los Angeles Times reports. Selig made the decision several weeks ago, according to the Times, denying McCourt a much-needed source of financing as he continues to struggle through a messy divorce and attempts to maintain control of the storied franchise. McCourt planned to use the Dodgers' cable television rights as collateral for the loan, proposing to extend the team's contract with FOX for as many as four more years if he was unable to repay the money. McCourt already has received an ...

Rep. Ron Paul of Texas won the Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC, 2011 straw poll with 30 percent of the vote, besting runner-up Mitt Romney by 7 percentage points. The annual straw poll is considered a bellwether of conservative support in advance of the presidential primary season, though many political analysts say it's a popularity contest, not a meaningful statistic. Paul was also the winner in 2010. Now attention has shifted to Fox News' coverage of the event. Some are accusing the network of inserting footage from CPAC 2010 -- when disappointed Romney supporters booed ...

Super Bowl ad controversies have become nearly as interesting as the commercials that get on the air, maybe more so, and that's surely the case with the latest spot rejected by Fox Sports: A 30-second ad aimed at getting viewers to check out the familiar gospel verse, John 3:16. So far this year, Fox has nixed commercials over issues of bad taste and inappropriate content -- which is a pretty high bar, given the popularity of frat boy humor and double entendres in Super Bowl ads, or the single-entendre spots that focus the attention so intently on sexy women that viewers don't actually know ...
