Bombshell Tapes May Reveal New Marilyn Monroe Mystery

Did Marilyn Monroe take a mystery trip aboard Frank Sinatra's private jet the very weekend she died? A trip during which she spent an intense night at the singer's retreat with mobster Sam Giancana? That's one of the suggestions made on the recently disclosed tapes featuring a close confidante of Monroe's -- who was also one of the most famous stylists in history. The legendary screen star's passing on Aug. 5, 1962, remains, arguably, the most mysterious and controversial death in Hollywood history. Just outside of Madison Square Garden's 7th Avenue doors are soaring, decorated, celebratory columns of Garden historical splendor. A center one is plastered with a photograph and these words of a transcending boxing event that soon reaches 40 years old: ``THE FIGHT OF THE CENTURY _ MARCH 8, 1971.'' Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier. It was the first of their trilogy of blazing boxing dances, a Garden bash with the nation plus corners of the world all bopping too, transfixed. Ali vs. Frazier. The Greatest vs. Smokin' Joe. Louisville's lip vs. Philadelphia's pride. Peace vs. war. The ...

Former Showtime Boxing Boss Jay Larkin Dies at Age 59

Lisa Larkin recalls the statement like it was yesterday, even though her husband, Jay, made it nearly a decade ago. "Jay said that pork chops would be growing on the palm trees of Tel Aviv before Mike Tyson would be allowed to fight on HBO," said Lisa Larkin of Jay, a former Showtime senior vice president who spent 22 years with the network until November of 2005. But Jay Larkin, who died Monday at age 59, was among those that made it happen in June of 2002, being instrumental in the union of Showtime -- which had Tyson -- and HBO, which had Lennox Lewis. The two cable giants teamed up to ...

Could Barack Obama Out-Recruit Frank Sinatra? We May Find Out

College basketball coaches are always looking for that edge. And Oregon State's Craig Robinson is no different than say, Ben Howland, Mike Montgomery or Tim Floyd in that respect. (Well, given USC's recent troubles, maybe Floyd isn't a good example.)College recruiting can be competitive and tough. So any coach would be foolish to turn down any recruiting help. Especially recruiting help from family. Especially family that just happens to be the President of the United States.Robinson was on ESPN 710 in Los Angeles and he admitted to hosts John Ireland and Steve Mason that he wouldn't be above ...
