Meg Whitman Far From Only Politician With Housekeeper Troubles

(Sept. 29) -- Good help (that won't come back and cause you trouble as you seek political office) is hard to find. Today, California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman's former housekeeper, an undocumented worker, held a news conference to detail her mistreatment "as a longtime, Latina household employee" in the Republican nominee and former eBay CEO's home. The veracity of the claims remains uncertain. The housekeeper is represented by celebrity attorney Gloria Allred, who Whitman's campaign has called a "shameful manipulator." The scenario in which a prospective politician's former ...

Sharron Angle in Lead for GOP Senate Nod in Nevada

State Assemblywoman Sharron Angle, the come-from-nowhere Tea Party favorite shooting for the GOP nomination to oppose Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, has a significant lead heading into Tuesday's primary, although the number of voters still undecided has edged upwards, according to a Mason-Dixon poll conducted June 1-3 for the Las Vegas Review Journal. Angle leads businessman and former college basketball star Danny Tarkanian 32 percent to 24 percent with onetime frontrunner, former state GOP chair Sue Lowden, at 23 percent. Three other candidates share 7 percent, 2 percent of voters ...

Brian Sandoval, Sharron Angle Lead for GOP Governor, Senate Nods in Nevada

The frontrunners in Nevada's GOP primary races for the gubernatorial and senate nominations are former federal judge Brian Sandoval, who is seeking to oust incumbent Gov. Jim Gibbons, and Tea Party favorite Sharron Angle, who has forged ahead of onetime frontrunner Sue Lowden, according to two new polls. One of the polls conducted May 31 - June 2 by Daily Kos/Research 2000 shows neither of the Reids running for office this year -- Harry, seeking re-election to the Senate, and son Rory, bidding for governor -- looking particularly strong heading into the general elections in most of the ...

Sandoval Leads in Primary and General Election Races for Nevada Governor

Former federal judge Brian Sandoval is leading Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons in the race for the GOP gubernatorial nomination and he has a 15 point cushion in a general election match-up against Democrat Rory Reid, according to a Mason-Dixon Research poll conducted April 5-7 for the Las Vegas Review-Journal. In the GOP contest, Sandoval is leading the scandal-scarred Gibbons 39 percent to 25 percent, with 7 percent for former North Las Vegas Mayor Michael Montandan and 29 percent undecided. The margin of error is 6 points. The primary will be held June 8. In general election match-ups, Reid, the ...

Reid (The Son) Struggling in Nevada Governor Race

Reid (The Son) Struggling in Nevada Governor Race

It's not a good year to be named "Reid" in Nevada. Not only does poll after poll show Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid running behind GOP rivals, but three Republicans in the race for governor are leading or are even with his son, Rory Reid, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted March 31. The only matchup where Reid, chairman of the Clark County Commission, is really close is with scandal-scarred Gov. Jim Gibbons. Even there, Gibbons is in a statistical tie with Reid, leading him 45 percent to 43 percent with 8 percent preferring someone else and 4 percent undecided. But last ...

GOP's Sandoval Leading in Nevada Governor Contest, Though Gibbons Gains

Republican Brian Sandoval, a former Nevada attorney general and federal judge, leads scandal-scarred Gov. Jim Gibbons in the race for the GOP gubernatorial nomination and would also beat Democrat Rory Reid, son of Majority Leader Harry Reid, in a general election match-up, according to a poll conducted Feb. 22-24 by Mason-Dixon for the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Sandoval, the first Hispanic in Nevada to hold a federal judgeship as well as statewide office, leads Gibbons by 37 percent to 30 percent in the contest for the GOP nomination, with former North Las Vegas Mayor Mike Montandon at 9 ...

Rory Reid Runs Way Behind One GOP Governor Hopeful in Nevada, Leads Two Others

Clark County Commissioner Rory Reid, son of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, is running ahead of embattled Republican Gov. Jim Gibbons, but if former federal judge and state Attorney General Brian Sandoval wins the GOP nomination, Reid would find himself trailing by double-digits, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted Feb. 3. Reid has a small, statistically insignificant lead over another GOP hopeful, Michael Montandon, former mayor of North Las Vegas. Gibbons has been hobbled by political battles, accusations of infidelity by his wife and a messy divorce. He was in court again ...

A Republican or an Independent Are Best Bets in Nevada Governor Race

Nevada's first-term Republican governor, Jim Gibbons, hobbled by political battles, accusations of infidelity by his wife and a messy divorce, is seen unfavorably by half the state's voters and would lose to former state Attorney General Brian Sandoval if a GOP primary were held today, according to a poll for the Las Vegas Journal-Review by Mason-Dixon conducted Nov. 30-Dec. 2. ...
