Regardless of the immediate reasons for his departure, I think it is clear the ethos that fueled Olbermann's meteoric rise has come and gone. This happens to musicians (think Warrant in the time of Nirvana) and actors (think Reagan in the era of Brando). I think it can happen to talkers, too. Times change and audiences are fickle. CNN's "State of the Union" is getting a new host -- correspondent Candy Crowley, who will replace current anchor John King starting this Sunday. Crowley is not the first woman to anchor one of the Sunday morning political talk shows, but she will be the only one currently doing so. Crowley is known for her campaign coverage, notably the 2008 general election. She is replacing King as anchor, but it was the departure of Lou Dobbs that opened up the spot. (Jan. 31) -- Viewers of television's political talk shows will soon see a female face on Sunday mornings. Veteran CNN political correspondent Candy Crowley will replace John King as anchor of the network's "State of the Union," effective Feb 7. After a year of hosting the show, King plans to debut a new weeknight program on CNN in the 7pm ET slot vacated by Lou Dobbs.
