Ohio 5 is noteworthy because of a very bitter primary fight and the subsequent investment of the major parties. The Democrats were hoping for an upset in a low turnout December election, but failed to even push the meter beyond what happened in 2006. I've been tracking it all night on Nixguy and it turned out to be a lot less exciting than promised. This is going to be one to watch. It's a special election in the fifth district to replace Paul Gillmor (R) so it's a chance for a Democrat takeaway and as a possible toe in the water about where the electorate is at. We have Bob Latta (R) vs. Deb Weirauch (D). Latta is hitting immigration and taxes hard, Weirauch is hitting unions and closing factories. The problem however is that this election will be held next Tuesday, December 11th and very few of the electorate (20% or so) are expected to show up. Which is going to make it very dicey and nervous for either party. ...
