Moscow Mayor Makes New Attempt to Tame Booze
By John William Narins - AOL News(Aug. 21) -- This week, Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov once again cracked down on booze in the Russian capital, signing a law completely banning store sales of alcohol between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m. The ban goes into effect on Sept. 1 and strengthens an existing restriction permitting only licensed stores to sell beverages containing at least 15 percent alcohol between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m. Those licenses are made defunct by the new order. The Mayor's office announced that the decision is part of "the institution of a State policy aimed at lowering the level of alcohol abuse and taking prophylactic ...
Tea Party Billboard Linking Obama to Hitler, Lenin Turns Off Some Conservatives
By Tom Diemer - Politics DailyA Tea Party-sponsored billboard in Iowa that ties President Obama to Adolf Hitler and Vladimir Lenin -- complete with large photos of the three -- got plenty of attention, but not necessarily the kind that the group wanted. The outdoor ad in Mason City, put up about a week ago by the North Iowa Tea Party, was removed Wednesday and replaced with a public service announcement, the company that owns the billboard said. The original sign included the labels Democrat Socialism, National Socialism and Marxist Socialism above the enlarged photographs, the Associated Press reported Wednesday. ...
