Researchers for The Center for Responsive Politics and Remapping Debate found the majority of those staffers lobbied for corporations or trade organizations. The ex-lobbyists work for Republicans and Democrats in about equal number. From senators to lobbyists in one week flat. Bob Bennett of Utah and Byron Dorgan of North Dakota have been hired as senior policy advisers by Arent Fox, the firm said on its website Tuesday. It was some performance. Dull. Nothing of consequence. No news. Nothing that was headline material. And that's how House GOP leader John Boehner wanted it. On Thursday afternoon, Boehner delivered a speech titled "Congressional Reform and 'The People's House' " at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, and he said nothing at all about campaign finance or lobbying reform. He claimed that the House is "broken." But he focused on tangential and technical transgressions, seconding the Tea Party claim that Congress routinely passes laws that are not tied to the legislative branch's ...
I loves me some mama grizzly Sarah Palin and her adorable Republican bear cubs running for national office -- Delaware's Christine "Never Mind What I Said Back Then" O'Donnell, South Dakota's Kristi "I Forgot My Court Date" Noem and Nevada's Sharron "Unemployed People Are Spoiled" Angle. And no, I don't love them because they're "unelectable." If you said that, bite your tongue. MSNBC pundit Chris Matthews bet Politics Daily's own David Corn that O'Donnell will win in November. Maybe that's a fake-out, but at this point in American politics, the fake is real, the real is fake, and the law of ...
