The Detroit News reports that the Delta employees are baggage handlers from the Detroit area and are accused of smuggling drugs from Jamaica into Detroit while working at the airport. The other two people arrested are from Texas and California, ICE officials said in a statement ...
Lost in the rhetoric about illegal immigration are new reports that Mexican drug cartels have moved into the United States, gaining a major foothold here that may be the start of a permanent expansion onto this side of the border. They're even growing marijuana in our national parks, one expert says. Mexico's cartel families and their associates have moved into cities in the southwestern U.S. as part of their ongoing drug selling and distribution operations, according to an alert from the U.S. Justice Department's Drug Intelligence Center, first reported April 11 by Mexican ...

A few Virginia parents would probably like to know what local school administrators are smoking. Seventh-grader Adam Grass and three other students at Hickory Middle School in Chesapeake, Va., were suspended last week after being caught with what teachers initially thought was a bag of marijuana but turned out to be a stash of oregano, The Virginian-Pilot reports. Unfortunately for the disciplined boys, now facing expulsion, there isn't much of a difference between Italian herbs and Mary Jane, at least in the state's eyes. According to school board member Christie Craig, Virginia has a ...
NOGALES, Ariz. -- Authorities in a southern Arizona city near the Mexico border have found two feces-covered bales of marijuana tied to a rope feeding into a sewer system. Nogales police say public works employees hauled out an estimated 39 pounds of pot while investigating a clogged sewer line Wednesday. Investigators told the Nogales International newspaper that the bales were smaller than the size of a suitcase and tied to 900 feet of rope in a narrow pipe that connects systems in the U.S. and Mexico. Police Lt. Carlos Jimenez says it's the first time they've discovered marijuana tied to ...
A chip off the old block. Theodora Richards was arrested Tuesday night in New York City and charged with drug possession and two counts of making graffiti. Richards, 25, is the daughter of legendary Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, who has seen his fair share of run-ins with the law over the years. Michael Buckner, WireImage Theodora Richards, model and daughter of Rolling Stone Keith Richards, was arrested in New York on Tuesday. There goes that theory? James Franco's rather lackluster performance as co-host of the Academy Awards set off a storm of speculation that the young actor/scholar/performance artist may have gotten high backstage before the show began. Pundits pointed to pictures of Franco in which his eyelids were captured at half-staff as some sort of empirical proof that marijuana had been smoked. But following a day of reefer theorizing, one of Franco's representatives decided that enough was enough and let the world known that the Yale Ph.D. candidate don't play like that. "James does not drink or do ...
Some movies are ripped from the headlines, but this crime story seems like it comes straight from the movies. In a scheme reminiscent of the plot of a Cheech and Chong film, police in Louisiana have accused two men of possessing marijuana and selling it out of an ice cream truck in Mathews, radio station WWL reports. Deputies from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office say Johnathan Trahan and Hunter Pitre were pushing pot from a dessert truck -- much like the protagonists of the 1981 marijuana comedy "Nice Dreams," in which Cheech and Chong peddle a potent form of marijuana ice cream from an ...
An Oklahoma woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for selling $31 of marijuana. Patricia Marilyn Spottedcrow, a 25-year-old mother of four, and her mother, Delita Starr, 50, sold an $11 dime bag to a police informant in Oklahoma on Dec. 31, 2009. The informant returned two weeks later to buy $20 of marijuana. Spottedcrow, who worked in nursing homes before her arrest, told The Oklahoman she did it to get some extra money. Coca-Cola once called itself "the pause that refreshes," but a new line of marijuana sodas may be known as "the pot that refreshes." That's because each 12-ounce bottle of "Canna Cola" will contain 35 to 65 milligrams of THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. Considering that the average dose of medical marijuana is about 25 milligrams, it's no surprise there's quite a buzz surrounding the product, which is scheduled to debut in Colorado cannabis collectives in February and cost $10 to $15 per bottle. Canna Cola Pictured are five different flavors of Canna Cola: Doc Weed, ...
