So the Michigan man got in his pickup truck and headed to his daughter's house not far away. But he never made it. Tice, 64, died after crashing his pickup truck Sunday, only a day after Lana, his wife of nearly four decades, died of cancer. Michigan Governor Signs Cut in Unemployment Benefits

Rick Snyder on Monday made Michigan the first state in the country to lower the number of weeks jobless workers can get state benefits, a trend other cash-strapped states may follow as a way to avoid taxing businesses more for unemployment benefits. Snyder said he signed the bill reducing state benefits from 26 to 20 weeks because it will allow people out of a job now to get up to 20 more weeks of help from a federal program for those who used up their state and most of their regular federal unemployment benefits. US Experiencing Uneven Job Growth Across States

But the gains have been uneven and several states are still losing jobs. California and Michigan, which each suffered some of the worst losses during the recession, are adding jobs again. Wes Leonard of Fennville High died Thursday night, Holland Hospital spokeswoman Deb Patterson said. A cause of death has not yet been determined. Authorities Say Man Persuaded Moms to Sexually Abuse Kids
