Ted Williams: Who Should Play the 'Man With the Golden Voice' in the Inevitable Movie?

His story has all the elements of a Hollywood classic. In the past few days, Ted Williams, the Ohio homeless man with the golden voice, has gone from obscurity and hardship to the national spotlight, a job offer with the Cleveland Cavaliers and a spot as the new voice for Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. What's next for Williams? With his fall from grace, substance abuse and inspiring renewal against the odds, Surge Desk says the Ted Williams story is prime for the silver screen. But which actor can do the "man with the golden voice" justice? Surge Desk staff have been brainstorming and humbly ...

Comic Puts Together 'Bucket List,' Only to Be Told He Wasn't Dying

Comic Puts Together 'Bucket List,' Only to Be Told He Wasn't Dying

(Nov. 22) -- Did you hear the one about the British comedian who was told he had three months to live so he set out to complete his own "bucket list," only to find out that he wasn't dying after all? This is no joke. It's a true story. Dave Ismay was told by doctors he had cirrhosis of the liver, a condition often resulting from excessive alcohol use, reports the Daily Mail. But Ismay, 64, of Ashby-de-la-Zouch, who is not a heavy drinker, was so devastated by the diagnosis that he decided to live out his last days in style, much like the terminally ill characters portrayed by Jack Nicholson ...

Voice on Tea Party Candidate's Ad Wasn't Morgan Freeman's

(Nov. 2) -- The campaign of North Carolina Republican congressional candidate B.J. Lawson said it was a little surprised when actor Morgan Freeman -- who supported Obama in 2008 -- agreed to perform a voice-over for its political ad but never questioned whether the actor had really lent his distinctive voice to the tea-party-backed politician. "A lot of people are changing their minds right now. We thought, 'Maybe he's just really into guys that are strict constitutionalists.' It didn't seem implausible," Lawson campaign spokesman Martin Avila told AOL News today. The problem, of course, is ...

Indie Rocker Sets Morgan Freeman's Wikipedia Page to Music

Indie Rocker Sets Morgan Freeman's Wikipedia Page to Music

(Aug. 25) -- Earlier this summer, indie rock musician Alex Schaaf had lots of musical ideas but was having trouble coming up with lyrics that were fitting for his funk-influenced tunes. So he turned to an unlikely source for inspiration: Morgan Freeman. Well, Morgan Freeman's Wikipedia page to be exact (and a detour with Google). Collating the information to be gleaned from this impeccable source, Schaaf wrote six songs and turned them into a new album, appropriately titled "The Morgan Freeman EP," which was recorded under the name of Yellow Ostrich. White House Correspondents Dinner Weekend: It's a Wrap

White House Correspondents Dinner Weekend: It's a Wrap

President Obama used the glitzy White House Correspondents' Association dinner Saturday night to take a few shots at himself, his staff, the press and, of course, the Republicans. In turn, many of the 2,700 guests from the increasingly overlapping worlds of media, politics and celebrity used the annual black-tie dinner to anchor more than a dozen other weekend parties with heavy groupie overtones. Obama, who by many accounts upstaged the headliner, Jay Leno, spoke first. "There are few thing in life that are harder to find and more important to keep than love," he deadpanned. "Well, love ...

The Dugout: Oakland Athletics Spring Training 2010

The Dugout: Oakland Athletics Spring Training 2010

The AL West continues to prove itself a bizarre and uninhabitable place as the Dugout's 2010 Spring Training event skips Oakland completely and heads straight into Hollywood. Billy Beane and the book "Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game, or How I Learned to Stop Working Out and Love the Balm" are being made into a major motion picture starring one-eighth of Brangelina and a bunch of comedians trying to wear business suits and win Golden Globes. It's a great example of how Hollywood prettiest up the hero and turns the supporting characters into Tolkeinesque two-dimensional sniveling ...

Love Story: Barbra Streisand and George W. Bush Trade Kisses

Via FOX News:Barbra Streisand got an awkward kiss on the cheek from the president, and yes, she gave him a smooch back. Streisand, a vocal critic of President George W. Bush, was a guest at the White House just before one of Washington's few A-list events: the Kennedy Center Honors. Babs was being praised in DC along with country music legend George Jones, modern dance legend Twyla Tharp, rock opera legends Roger Daltry and Pete Townsend, and fictional black president legend Morgan Freeman. But the Bush/Babs kisses, were they not the biggest story of all for a nation so desperately in need of ...
