Click here to visit the new home of Politics Daily! You'd think that a woman who enjoys what she calls "sport sex" wouldn't have trouble finding a Valentine. But you'd be wrong, both about the woman and her situation. Angye Fox, 40, runs a successful ad agency in Florida and, yes, she is also a swinger who has sex with different partners without being in love with any of them. Although she sometimes goes to swing parties with a male friend, she considers herself single. As such, Valentine's Day is a melancholy time for her. "It can be lonely," she told AOL News. "Take New Year's Eve, for instance. I do a radio show in Florida called the ...
Thieves in Argentina have made off with more than 130 safety deposit boxes from a bank vault after spending months digging a 100-foot tunnel from an adjacent building. The heist is believed to have taken place on New Year's Eve while the bank was closed, but it was discovered only when employees returned to work after the long weekend. Authorities described the tunnel as very sophisticated, with electricity and ventilation inside. "It was a really impressive job," Argentine prosecutor Martin Niklison told the BBC. He said that it's believed there were at least three burglars and that ...
ATLANTA - Friends and family say a 14-year-old boy who went out for a midnight celebration was knifed to death at a downtown Atlanta train station after he was accosted by a man who accused him of stealing a cell phone. Rueben Hand was killed early Saturday as he was heading home with friends after attending the New Year's Eve Peach Drop at Underground Atlanta, relatives told the media. Hand and a friend were about to get on a MARTA transit system train when a man accused them of stealing his cell phone, said 18-year-old Diamante Drake, who said he was with Hand at the station. After the ...
If you're planning on knocking back a few drinks this New Year's Eve, you'd better have plenty of honey on hand. Not for some fancy cocktail concoction but for the hangover that's sure to follow on New Year's Day. That's the word from Ted Pollard, founder of Health911.com, a website dedicated to providing safe and natural solutions for a wide array of health conditions, including the dreaded holiday hangover. Pollard told AOL News that there are many effective ways to nurse a hangover naturally rather than just popping some aspirin and hoping for the best. One of those ways is by eating ...
NEW YORK -- Revelers smooched and cheered the famous ball drop in New York's Times Square as the largest New Year's Eve celebration in the U.S. ushered in 2011. Most tried to set aside concerns about the worldwide economic downturn as partiers from New Zealand to Asia to Europe toasted to hopes of a more prosperous year to come. In New York, as many as a million people braved tight security and chilly temperatures Friday night to take part in the storied Times Square New Year's celebration, first begun in 1904. Crowds counted down to midnight as the glowing 6-ton Waterford Crystal ball ...
While the weather will be dry and tranquil when the ball drops in Times Square at midnight, parts of the nation will have nasty -- if not downright dangerous -- weather to ring in 2011. The combination of strong winds, snow and blowing snow will result in blizzard conditions in northern and western Minnesota, eastern North Dakota and much of South Dakota this evening through Saturday morning. Snowfall totals from this second of back-to-back storms will approach a foot in some locations, and the combination of snow and blowing snow will reduce visibility to near zero at times. Wind chill ...
Most New Year's Eve traditions involve alcohol, but for a growing number of people, smashing a banana is the most appealing way to ensure the New Year will be fruitful. This bizarre tradition is officially called "the Banana Smash" and, according to organizer John Podeszwa, has been around since 1992, when a few folks in Minnesota came up with the fruity concept. "It began on Xerxes Avenue South in Minneapolis as a good way to do away with all the bad juju from the previous year," Podeszwa told AOL News. "I came up with the idea of writing the date on a banana, but the ceremony was ...
On the other side of the globe, it's 2011 already. Fireworks lit up the 1,000-foot Sky Tower in New Zealand's biggest city, Auckland, as thousands took to the streets there to celebrate theirs being the first major country to ring in 2011. Celebrations are also under way in Sydney, Australia, where people camped out all day in their summertime sunshine to claim coveted spots in parks overlooking the harbor and famed Opera House. "We have been waiting here by the harbor since 6 a.m.," Brazilian exchange student Marcio Motta told the Sydney Morning Herald. "We know how to party on New Year ...

With just hours to go before the ball drops, the FBI in New York says it knows of no credible terrorist threats involving the traditional New Year's Eve celebration in Manhattan's famed Times Square. "While there's no credible threat, the FBI and NYPD, as they do every year, will have a large security effort in and around Times Square," FBI agent Richard Kolko, a spokesman for the New York office, told AOL News. Kolko said the FBI and New York police will have fully operational control centers and teams of bomb techs to respond to suspicious packages. Hazmat and SWAT teams, evidence ...
