TNA President: Reaction Only Planned to Air Until End of 2010

On Monday came the announcement that Spike TV has decided not to pick up the weekly TNA "Reaction" television show going forward. But TNA president Dixie Carter says the program was only scheduled to run until the end of the year. "'Reaction' was never picked up as a 52-week show. It was planned to air through the end of 2010," Carter told FanHouse via e-mail. "Look for announcements coming soon regarding 'Impact!'" "Reaction" was picked up by Spike TV earlier in the year and has aired every Thursday night following "Impact" since Aug. 12. It will be interesting to see what TNA and Carter ...

Awful Christmas Gift? Learn to Love It Through Hypnosis

Awful Christmas Gift? Learn to Love It Through Hypnosis

Everyone is bound to unwrap an awful gift or two on Christmas, but your reaction to that gaudy reindeer sweater from grandma doesn't have to be as bad as the gift itself. According to Australian comedy hypnotist Matthew Hale, there's a way to use self-hypnosis to elicit a natural, happy reaction from yourself during the Christmas gift exchange -- even if the present you're unwrapping is a nose hair trimmer, a scale or something equally offensive. Hale, who's been a traveling stage hypnotist for years, said his "Christmas happiness technique" is quite simple. In fact, with the right focus ...

Red Sox Nation Mourns Steinbrenner's Passing, Sincerely

(July 13) -- The New York Yankees and the sport of baseball are mourning the loss of George Steinbrenner today following the news that the Yankees owner died after a heart attack at his home in Tampa Bay, Fla. Over the years, the "Boss" acquired as many loyal fans as harsh critics, with many of the latter not surprisingly coming from the Boston Red Sox fan base. Over the course of the teams' heated rivalry, there's been a rich history of supporters on both sides crossing the line when expressing their opinion of the opposition. Which is another way of saying that Surge Desk wondered ...

TNA 'iMPACT' Moving Nights Again

So much for a return to the Monday Night Wars in wrestling. TNA Wrestling told its wrestlers on Monday that its weekly iMPACT! television show on Spike TV will be moving back to Thursday nights from 9-11 p.m. ET, according to ProWrestling.net. (Update: TNA officially announced on the Monday night show that iMPACT! will move back to Thursdays on May 13.) TNA had hoped to spark a wrestling war on Monday nights against WWE similar to one that Vince McMahon's company had with WCW during the mid-1990s when wrestling was at an all-time peak. TNA along with Spike TV moved iMPACT! from Thursday ...

TNA Debuts New Show on Spike TV

It's a busy night for TNA Wrestling. Its weekly iMPACT! show is moving up an hour to its new 8:00PM ET timeslot. Plus, the company is debuting a new program right before it. Beginning at 7:00PM ET on Spike TV, the company will air its new, one-hour show titled TNA ReAction. This will be a behind-the-scenes look at TNA Wrestling including interviews with the wrestlers. TNA Reaction Sneak Peek | SpikeTV | SPIKE.com This could be a very interesting show if TNA allows it to be with the wrestlers speaking candidly and not in character. However, that doesn't look to be the case with the ...

Woods' Apology Elicits Predictable Responses

Woods' Apology Elicits Predictable Responses

(Feb. 19) -- In the hours following Tiger Woods' choreographed apology for serial philandering, a slew of commentators, corporate executives and average Americans offered a range of opinions on the effectiveness of Woods' performance. The vast majority of them seemed as scripted as the nearly 15-minute apology itself. "Tiger has apologized and made his position clear," said Nike, one of Woods' biggest sponsors. "Nike fully supports him and his family. We look forward to him returning to golf." Just as eager to see Woods get back to winning golf tournaments, EA Sports President Peter Moore ...

Obama's Speech Raises Hopes -- and Doubts

Obama's Speech Raises Hopes -- and Doubts

(Jan. 28) -- President Barack Obama's first State of the Union address is getting generally favorable reviews from all but his most partisan critics. His performance moved some commentators more than others, but many who've weighed in online wonder whether Obama's words will lead to any real changes. "It was better and tougher than I expected," said Salon's Joan Walsh. "Obama showed more spine and fire than he has of late, mainly using humor to turn the GOP's dourness back on itself. It was a strong address, but it will take more than words for Obama to get his agenda back on track." Health ...

Reactions to the Supreme Court and Gitmo

Hugh Hewitt on the Supreme Court Gitmo case today. What this means, of course, is more litigation, more delays, and more confusion. Only one thing is certain: Our terrorist enemies still at large must be amazed, amused and encouraged by the continued insistence by legal elites that they be treated like petty American criminals rather than fanatical killers eager for martyrdom. It is as though the five justices and their clerks are wholly ignorant of the rising stack of books and flood of articles detailing the nature of the enemy and their creed of death. My first thought is that since a ...

Congressman + Camera = Smackdown

Congressman + Camera = Smackdown

Rep. Paul Kanjorski is, as the Times-Tribune puts it, "getting a first-hand lesson in the hazards of the digital age." The Pennsylvania Democrat was approached by a blogger with a camera and asked to account for recent comments he made about the war in Iraq. Kanjorski is obviously flustered and when his temper runs out he's seen shoving the camera out of the way.Kanjorski now finds himself for the second time in a month where no politician up for re-election wants to be: on the wrong side of a YouTube clip. Obviously his rival's camp is positively giddy over the mini-meltdown.While it does ...

Rapid Reaction: McCain on Jim Johnson

Rapid Reaction: McCain on Jim Johnson

John McCain wasted no time responding to Barack Obama's firing of a key vetter for his Vice Presidential pick: "Jim Johnson's resignation raises serious questions about Barack Obama's judgment. Selecting the vice presidential nominee is the most important decision a presidential candidate can make and one even Barack Obama has said will 'signal how I want to operate my presidency.' By entrusting this process to a man who has now been forced to step down because of questionable loans, the American people have reason to question the judgment of a candidate who has shown he will only make the ...
