Salahis' Limo Stopped Near White House During State Dinner

It's sketchy, but are they back? The Secret Service reportedly stopped a stretch limousine carrying Tareq and Michaele Salahi for running a red light near the White House on Wednesday night -- while a state dinner was underway for Mexican President Felipe Calderon, another grand event to which the Salahis' were not invited. ABCnews.com quoted Secret Service Agent in Charge Edwin M. Donovan as saying the limo ran a red light at Constitution Avenue and 15th Street, then signaled "that it was turning into the Ellipse parking area at 16th and Constitution, a restricted area." That's within ...

The Salahis Follies: Coming Soon to Vegas!

Someone help me out here. True or false: If you have the reputation of being the couple whose major claim to fame is gate-crashing the White House, wouldn't you want to sit down and be quiet? Wouldn't you limit your social exposure until your infamy faded away? Wouldn't the last thing you would want to do is to show up on anybody's red carpet? You wouldn't. Not if you're Tareq and Michaele Salahi. The infamous social climbers of the Beltway have accepted an invitation to be the official party hosts on Jan. 16 at the Pure Nightclub in Las Vegas. According to the Washington Post, the couple ...

Who Else Crashed Obama's State Dinner?

(Jan. 5) -- Tareq and Michaele Salahi weren't the only ones who got into the state dinner at the White House without an invitation. The Secret Service confirms there was a third party crasher. But the man accused of the security breach denies it was him. A congressional source told The Washington Post that Carlos Allen, a party promoter in the nation's capital, was the uninvited guest. A statement from the Secret Service did not identify the crasher but said he got into the White House with the official Indian delegation to the Nov. 24 dinner honoring that country's prime minister. "I did ...

The Secret Service Has Been Embarrassed Before

The Secret Service Has Been Embarrassed Before

WASHINGTON – The Salahis were hardly the first to embarrass the Secret Service by crashing presidential security. And it will probably happen again. One man did it twice. The Rev. Rich C. Weber shook hands with President Clinton at his second inauguration, then was back four years later in 2001, welcoming President George W. Bush with a brief conversation. There were also more frightening incidents -- a man who hopped the White House gate with a .38-caliber revolver and got within 50 feet of the residence. Another man crashed a plane into the White House. But until Tareq and Michaele ...

After Salahis Crashed White House Party, Secret Service to Be More Vigilant

The White House is expecting thousands of guests in the coming weeks for holiday parties just as probes into how aspiring reality TV stars Tareq and Michaele Salahi crashed President Obama's state dinner are heating up inside the Secret Service and on Capitol Hill. "The Secret Service will not hesitate to check, double check and triple check the guest list for the upcoming receptions just to make sure the Secret Service and the White House are on the same page," Special Agent Darrin Blackford, a Secret Service spokesman, told me on Monday. ...
