Click here to visit the new home of Politics Daily! After bringing in $279,000 during the final six weeks of last year, Sarah Palin's political action committee's total fundraising for 2010 topped $3.5 million, according to a financial disclosure filed Wednesday with the Federal Election Commission. Nearly all the money raised by SarahPAC from Nov. 23 to Dec. 31 came from individual donors -- mostly in amounts less than $200, The New York Times reported. Of 600 itemized donations, only eight were for $1,000 or more, the newspaper said. SarahPAC spent about $2.6 million last year, leaving about $1.3 million in the bank for 2011. Politico ...
Sarah Palin's political action committee had its best fundraising quarter ever between April and June, bringing in nearly $1 million. It funneled $87,500 of that to Republican candidates, including several -- but not all -- of the ones she endorsed. Among the recipients of the former Alaska governor's largess were 11 GOP candidates running for some of the 23 Democratic House seats she targeted after passage of the controversial health care reform in March. In a report filed Sunday with the Federal Election Commission, SarahPAC indicated that Palin took in $865,815 from April 1 through June ...
JUNEAU, Alaska (July 11) - Sarah Palin's political action committee contributed at least $87,500 to candidates she's endorsed in the last few months, according to a report filed Sunday with the Federal Elections Commission. But SarahPAC's financial disclosure also shows Palin spending more than $210,000 on consulting. Candidates receiving money from Palin for the period covering April 1 to June 30 include former Gov. Terry Branstad, who won last month's Republican gubernatorial primary in Iowa, and Joe Miller, who's challenging Alaska U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski in the August GOP primary. Each ...
Sarah Palin's first campaign-style advertisement for SarahPAC, a political action committee dedicated, according to its website, "to building America's future, supporting fresh ideas and candidates who share our vision for reform and innovation," has hit the Internet. The video, just shy of two minutes long, is by far Palin's most concerted -- and polished -- effort to appeal to conservative women, a subset of voters Palin has affectionately dubbed the "Mama Grizzlies." The footage, culled from Palin's recent appearances and speeches (no trace of John McCain is anywhere to be seen, the poor ...
Tuesday could be a big day in determining how far Sarah Palin's endorsement star power goes. Two of Palin's most high profile and perhaps most controversial "mama grizzlies" face Republican primaries June 8. In South Carolina, beleaguered state Rep. Nikki Haley is considered the front-runner in a four-way primary for governor. In the two weeks before the election, however, two men have said they've had affairs with the state lawmaker. Haley has denied the accusations and Palin is sticking by her candidate. In California, two recent polls show Carly Fiorina in the lead against two men in ...
Sarah Palin put the bull's-eye on 20 U.S. House races on her Facebook page last month, but didn't donate to favored candidates in those districts during the first quarter of the year. Although her SarahPAC took in $400,000 in the first quarter and had more than $900,000 in the bank, it gave only $7,500 to candidates between January and the end of March, plus an additional $2,000 to two other PACs. None went to Republicans in the races she targeted. Instead, she gave to $2,500 to Wisconsin House candidate Sean Duffy, $2,000 to Kentucky Senate candidate Rand Paul, and $1,000 each to Florida ...
Urging her supporters to "get organized," Sarah Palin released a list Tuesday of 17 Democrats in Congress who her political action committee will work to defeat in the November elections. On her Facebook page, the former vice presidential candidate wrote that SarahPac will be "paying particular attention to those House members who voted in favor of Obamacare and represent districts that Senator John McCain and I carried during the 2008 election," CBS News reported. Here's the list: Ann Kirkpatrick (Ariz.), Harry E. Mitchell (Ariz.), Gabrielle Giffords (Ariz.), John Salazar (Colo.), Betsy ...
Sarah Palin's fundraising committee spent $63,000 buying copies of her memoir, "Going Rogue," in November and December of last year, ABC News reports. Palin directed the committee to buy the books to send to donors. SarahPAC also spent $8,000 on "Going Rogue" bookmarks and $20,000 to send a photographer along on Palin's book tour. "Going Rogue: An American Life" sold a million copies in its first two weeks in stores. HaperCollins added an additional million to its initial printing of 1.5 million copies, sending 2.5 million into print from the start. Palin is not the first public figure to ...
Surprising the inside-the-Beltway crowd, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin raised $732,867 in the first half of 2009. SarahPAC, her Washington, D.C.-area fundraising organization, has proven to be organized and effective, despite reports to the contrary. ...
Sarah Palin's July 3 announcement that she would be stepping down as governor of Alaska, has made her more popular than ever. At least on Facebook. Techpresident.com yesterday reported a massive spike in Facebook friends for the former Republican vice-presidential nominee. Techpresident tracks the Facebook popularity of various political figures on an ongoing basis. Even since their report yesterday, which had Palin with 591,635 supporters, she has gained an additional 18,368. That's a 3 percent gain in less than 24 hours. Without precise numbers it's hard to tell exactly how large her gain ...
