Ted Haggard opens up about his sexual orientation, which has been the source of many rumors and revelations over the years. "Here's where I really am on this issue," he says. "I think that probably, if I were 21 in this society, I would identify myself as a bisexual." Haggard went on to explain that at his age (54), "I can have enforced boundaries in my life. ... I can be who I am and exclusively have sex with my wife and be perfectly satisfied." In 2006, Haggard resigned his post as president of the National Association of ...

Tourists visiting New York City have been treated to a different sort of snow-blanketed vision: trash mountains. The city's Sanitation Department resumed residential garbage pickup this morning for the first time since Christmas Eve, though still only at 50 percent capacity, The New York Times reported. The cornucopia of trash was a side effect of the post-Christmas blizzard that coated much of the East Coast in more than a foot of snow and which, mysteriously, New York City had inordinate trouble clearing from its streets. Dana Chivvis for AOL News New York City resumed ...
(Dec. 2) -- Julian Assange may be getting some unlikely company. If Nigeria has its way, former Vice President Dick Cheney will be next on Interpol's international "wanted" alert, for bribery charges related to his time as the CEO of Halliburton. Nigeria's anti-corruption agency says it plans to file charges against Cheney in connection with $180 million in bribes a Halliburton subsidiary paid to Nigerian officials to help secure a $1.2 billion contract during his tenure as head of the company. "We are filing charges against Cheney," Femi Babafemi, the country's Economic and Financial ...
(Nov. 21) -- The former school superintendent is behind bars. County Executive Jack Johnson and his wife are whisked away in handcuffs by FBI agents, after authorities say she flushed evidence in the form of a $100,000 check down the toilet. And a few days later, three county cops are indicted in an FBI probe linked to the county executive -- a probe that has all the markings of a much bigger scandal to come. This is no obscure county in the middle of Nowheresville, U.S.A. It's Prince George's County, 498 square miles with more than 800,000 residents, long considered one of the most affluent ...
(Nov. 18) -- Rep. Charles Rangel begged for "a drop of fairness and mercy" from the House ethics committee in recommending today how he should be punished for financial and fundraising misconduct. One possibility that was floated as a possible consequence facing Rangel was censure, "the most serious punishment short of expulsion that could be meted out by the House," according to The Associated Press. Earlier this year, the 80-year-old congressman and former chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee was accused of violating 12 House rules, including living in four rent-controlled ...
(Nov. 11) -- A star Australian rugby league player has quit after a photograph of him performing a sex act with a dog was distributed on the Internet. Joel Monaghan played with the Canberra Raiders in Australia's National Rugby League, the highest level of professional rugby in the world -- a league as popular in parts of Australia as the NFL is in the United States. Monaghan was attending an end-of-season house party with up to 30 Canberra players and friends when someone snapped a photo of the star player with a teammate's Labrador dog. (Nov. 11) -- The European Union is just not feeling the love from Italy tonight. More than a year after Sir Elton John's Piedigrotta Festival performance in Naples, European Union officials are a bit concerned about the 750 million euros in EU funds that were used to put on the British singer-songwriter's concert. The EU provided the money to the Campania region, which includes Naples, as a culture subsidy to support local music, crafts and cuisine. "We know EU funds were used for this concert, and we are looking into it to see if it was eligible," an EU spokesman told the U.K.'s Guardian. ...
(Oct. 8) -- Karen Owen, a former Duke University student, has quickly made a name for herself as both a pioneering figure of female sexual empowerment and the latest social-media pariah, all thanks to a mock 40-plus-page "thesis" she drafted for two close friends in which she "scientifically" documented the sexual prowess of 13 male partners and fellow Duke students, referring to them in her report as "subjects" (many of them Duke lacrosse players). Of course, this being the Internet era, Owen's thesis did not stay within her circle of friends: Having been forwarded to the Duke student body, ...
UPDATE: CNN has fired Rick Sanchez from the network after his comments on a radio program received widespread criticism. See our full report here. (Oct. 1) -- Television anchor Rick Sanchez makes a living talking to America, but it looks like the folksy CNN commentator put his foot in his mouth on a radio talk show. Appearing Thursday on the Sirius radio program "Stand Up! With Pete Dominick," Sanchez, who was born in Cuba and grew up in Florida, repeatedly took aim at Jon Stewart, calling him a "bigot." When pressed by Dominik as to what he meant, specifically, Sanchez gave the following ...
