D.C. School Voucher Program Jeopardized by Spending Bill

Democrats have included a provision in the $410 billion omnibus spending bill currently winding its way through Congress that would end the D.C. Opportunity Scholarships program. The program provides $7,500 vouchers to some 1,700 low-income families in the nation's capital that can be used to help pay the cost of tuition at private schools. The program allows thousands of D.C. kids the chance to escape the District's crowded, unsafe, and underperforming school system for a quality education.
