Contacted by AOL News, the FBI said it could neither confirm nor deny the existence of an investigation into the hacking ring. According to TMZ, law enforcement sources have said they believe a ...

A judge has ordered the man, Pradeep Manukonda, to keep 300 yards away from Zuckerberg; his girlfriend, Priscilla Chan; and his sister, Randi, the site reports. In court papers, Zuckerberg says the man tried to "follow, surveil and contact Mr. Zuckerberg using language threatening his personal safety." Manukonda went to several Facebook offices in ...

What Can Be Done to Improve Airport Security?

Security experts warn that Monday's suicide bombing in Moscow exposed every airport's Achilles' heel: the vulnerable areas outside interior screening checkpoints where typically hundreds of people roam freely before boarding a plane or picking up a loved one. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev today blamed the attack at Domodedovo Airport, which killed 35 people and wounded more than 150, partly on "breaches in security." The explosives were carried in a suitcase and detonated in the arrivals hall in the airport's international terminal. Airport officials have placed some metal detectors ...

Spam Traffic Plunges Worldwide

Bad news for all those dying to hear about acai berries and cheap Viagra: The volume of e-mail spam sent worldwide has dropped sharply. It isn't clear what accounts for the drop in junk traffic. Still, there's no denying the trend: A mere 50 billion spam messages are being sent each day, compared with 200 billion a day in the summer, BBC News reported, citing computer security company Symantec. The drop-off has been especially noticeable in the past couple of weeks. AFP / Getty Images The amount of junk e-mail being sent has fallen dramatically since December, but ...

Egypt Puts Security Net Around Churches for Coptic Christmas

CAIRO - Egyptian authorities put up a heavy security cordon early Thursday around the main Coptic cathedral in Cairo hours before Christmas Eve Mass, using bomb-sniffing dogs, metal detectors and officers to try to prevent another attack like the New Year's suicide bombing of a church that killed 21 people. Al-Qaida in Iraq had threatened Christians in Iraq and Egypt in the weeks leading up to the holidays, and militant websites have even posted online lists of churches in Egypt to target with their addresses. Egypt's Coptic Christian minority, which makes up 10 percent of Egypt's 80 million ...

Feds Seek Computer Firewall to Block WikiLeaks 'Pollution'

Among the more striking aspects of the still unfolding WikiLeaks controversy are government demands that their workers -- and even federal contractors -- refrain from reading leaked classified documents, even though they are in the public domain. Now, according to one network security company, the government wants to install a system that can block unclassified computers from accessing WikiLeaks documents no matter where they originate. Fidelis Security, a Boston-based network security company that works with the military and other government agencies, says it's being asked to set up a ...

While 'Opt-Out Day' Fizzles, Detained Passenger Mystery Goes Unnoticed

(Nov. 24) -- Forget "National Opt-Out Day." It turns out that while those touchy pat-downs and scandalous body scans continued to make headlines Tuesday, the Transportation Security Administration was involved in hotter pursuits. After unknown authorities removed two mystery men from a US Airways flight in Denver on Tuesday, the agency confirmed to AOL News Surge Desk that the TSA was tipped off about a passenger "acting suspiciously" and met the plane on the ground in Denver along with "law enforcement." Surge Desk reported Tuesday that two passengers had been removed by agents who had ...
