12 Children Killed in Brazil School Shooting

RIO DE JANEIRO -- A gunman roamed the halls of an elementary school in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday and killed 12 children, lining them up against a wall and shooting them in the head at point-blank range as he shouted, "I'm going to kill you all!" It was the worst school shooting in Brazil - and would have been deadlier if the gunman had not been shot in the legs by a police officer, who said the man then fell down some stairs and shot himself in the head. Images taken with a cell phone and posted on YouTube showed students fleeing wildly, screaming for help, many with their white and blue ...

Afghan President: Shooter in Police Uniform Kills 2 Americans

KABUL, Afghanistan -- A man wearing an Afghan border police uniform shot dead two American military personnel tasked with helping train members of the country's security forces on Monday, NATO and Afghan officials said. The assailant fled and it was not known whether he was a police officer who turned on his Western counterparts or an insurgent disguising himself in uniform to infiltrate the northern compound and attack from inside. There have been cases of both in Afghanistan, exposing the vulnerability even of foreign trainers involved in preparing Afghan forces to take the lead in battling ...

"They had been arguing off and on, and at some point in time she told him that she didn't love him anymore," Copley Township Police Chief Michael Mier told AOL News. "They continued to argue, and he reached for a gun he had close at hand in the bedroom and shot her one time in the face." According to Mier, Glenn Leo Burbridge, 86, is being held at the Summit County Jail on a $100,000 bond and is charged with murdering his 83-year-old wife, Alice. He is ...

PHOENIX -- A federal judge on Monday ordered the suspect in the January shooting rampage in Tucson to undergo a mental evaluation at a specialized facility in Missouri as soon as possible.
