Brian Dickson was charged with first-degree murder, Toronto police spokesman Tony Vella told The Associated Press. Dickson was scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning. Hamlet, Romeo and Othello Battle in 'Kill Shakespeare'

(Dec. 6) -- Two Canadian writers have taken Shakespeare's most famous characters and put them in a "Lord of the Rings"-type quest, and that has lovers of the Immortal Bard grumbling whether it is to be or not to be. The comic book in question is called "Kill Shakespeare" and features Shakespearean celebs like Hamlet, Othello, and Romeo and Juliet battling it out against Lady MacBeth, Iago and Richard III to see who can find a mysterious wizard named Shakespeare. Although the 12-volume series is a hit, some scholars wonder whether 'tis nobler for vital characters like Hamlet, Richard III and ...

Opinion: Technology Can Make Air Travel Easier

(Nov. 22) -- The holiday season is a time for joy and thanksgiving. But as anyone traveling over the holidays knows, it can often be unpredictable. To add to the mix, new security screening technology has been raising concerns among some passengers. About 1.3 million to 2.5 million people will be flying each day during this holiday season, and that means travelers need to be on their toes. But while the bottleneck we often face at the airport security lines and things like the weather are mostly beyond our control, there are some new technologies being developed by airlines and airports to ...

Bomb Scare Diverts Plane; May Have Been a Hoax

STOCKHOLM (Sept. 25) -- Canadian police are investigating whether a phoned-in hoax caused a Pakistani jet to be diverted to Stockholm for several hours Saturday for fear that one of its passengers was carrying explosives. Police evacuated 273 people from the jet, and briefly detained a Canadian man, after an anonymous caller in Canada tipped-off authorities that the suspect was carrying explosives. However, no explosives were found on the man, who was released after questioning by police, or on the Boeing 777 from Pakistan International Airlines, which had been bound from Toronto to Karachi, ...

(July 23) -- He may be out of federal prison, but he's not going back to Canada just yet. What Can You Do to Prevent a Blackout?

(July 6) -- With temperatures soaring along the East Coast, it's hard to blame people for blasting the AC. But concerns about a blackout are running high as well. On Aug. 14, 2003, a single outage caused more than 50 million people to lose power across the U.S. and Canada for more than four days. Even New York City's skyline was plunged into darkness. Fortunately, energy experts say there are ways to prevent such a massive power outage.
