(Nov. 23) -- Sarah Palin's television ratings are falling faster than snow in an avalanche on Mount McKinley. After becoming the most-watched premiere in TLC network history, "Sarah Palin's Alaska" saw a 40 percent decrease in ratings for its second episode. Despite unfavorable critical reception, the show's debut was watched by a whopping 5 million viewers. Episode two, however, only drew 3 million back for more Palin. Who is tuning in to see Palin gaze at actual mama grizzlies and subtly praise Alaska's majestic beauty as a microcosm for American patriotism? Not the coveted 18-to-49 ...
Game 3 of the World Series between the Giants and Rangers had the earliest start time in 23 years in an effort to draw more younger viewers. It ended up being the second-lowest-rated World Series broadcast ever. Saturday night's 4-2 Rangers win garnered a 6.7 rating for FOX, down from a 9.1 in last year's Yankees-Phillies Game 3. The only World Series game to register lower among viewers was at the other extreme as far as start time goes. OK, so more people watched reruns of Bones, House, Big Bang Theory (and everything else on CBS), but the NHL Stanley Cup game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Detroit Red Wings reeled in almost 6 million, definitely the most watched Stanley Cup Finals game in a good long while. Moreover, the game led NBC to a tie for first place in the 18-49 ...
Sunday's NASCAR on FOX event from Las Vegas hit the jackpot this past weekend, posting an impressive 6.3/13 (10.5 million viewers) national rating, according to Nielsen. Sunday's 6.3/13 is up +2% over last year's 6.2/12 for the same race on FOX, and was by far the top-rated sporting event of the weekend. NASCAR on FOX from Las Vegas outrated CBS' NCAA Selection Show by +47% (6.3/13 vs. 4.3/9 ), the largest margin ever recorded between the two events. Sunday marked the third-straight year in which NASCAR on FOX from Las Vegas has out-pointed the same-day NCAA Selection show on CBS . Ratings for ...
According to a post made on the IndyStar.com's official website, the Indianapolis area ranked 2nd in local team TV ratings during week 1 of the NFL season. Here are the top 5 teams... 1. Pittsburgh Dolphins-Steelers 50.5 2. Indianapolis Colts-Giants 43.3 3. Milwaukee Bears-Packers 39.1 4. Buffalo Bills-Patriots 37.9 5. Dallas-Fort Worth Cowboys-Jaguars 32.2 So what does this all mean? I'm no expert on TV ratings, but to the best of my knowledge I believe it means that 43.3% of all TV sets in the Indianapolis area were tuned into the Colts game during week 1. The Indianapolis area record is a ...
