Click here to visit the new home of Politics Daily!(Sept. 13) -- There's always a risk of oversharing on Facebook -- especially when you're a 27-year-old man attempting to illegally marry a 14-year-old girl. Police arrested Robert Nickson Jr. of Delaware County, Pa., earlier this week after learning of his alleged sexual relationship with a teenager through the couple's Facebook postings. Nickson and the underage girl haven't exactly been hiding their relationship, according to cops. They have both uploaded Facebook profile photos showing them together, and posted status updates noting they are "in love" and "engaged," police told the ...
It's easy to dismiss as just a phase the drinks and smokes you have while 19 and "having fun." But according to a University of Arizona associate anthropology professor, Dr. Mimi Nichter, the detrimental habits that develop throughout college are alarmingly capable of turning into lasting problems, especially when the habits reinforce each other. Dr. Nichter and her colleagues wanted to "unpack" the issue of tobacco use in association with alcohol because, as she said, "It's only when you start to understand why people do something and how they talk about it that you can begin to address ...
What started as a typical Saturday night for a Drake University student turned into a life-threatening nightmare when he drank so much of a potent liquor called Everclear that his blood-alcohol content hit .50, six times the legal limit of .08. Nathan Erickson, a freshman pledge of Drake University's Phi Delta Theta fraternity, spent the evening of Nov. 7, 2009, drinking 151-proof Everclear at an unofficial frat house referred to as "The Carter." Early Sunday he was found passed out on the couch by Alexander Timm, a Phi Delta Theta resident, who was returning home from a night of bartending. ...

The Boston Globe reported Friday that if members of the School Committee formally endorse the measure on Oct. 19, Foxborough will become the first school in Massachusetts to test for in-school drinking. The tests would not be conducted at random or given to everyone, but would be administered if alcohol use is suspected. A positive result will result in removal from school and a five-day suspension. School officials ...
If you have consumed alcohol in your lifetime (which I'm sure you haven't unless you're of legal age, right?) and are a rambunctiously loyal student or faithful alum of a school with athletic prowess, you might be excited to learn that Bud Light is going to look a lot more, dare I say, "cooler" soon. ...
Georgia coach Mark Richt must be banging his head against a wall today.Reserve Georgia quarterback Blake Barnes and tight end James Henry "Tripp" Chandler were arrested early Sunday morning, the former for open container and furnishing alcohol to a minor, the latter for open container and underage possession. The two were booked a little after 6:00 A.M. according to the Clarke County jail report.Apparently the dismissal of UGA linebacker Akeem Hebron wasn't enough to convince fellow Bulldogs to be more careful with their boozing. Hebron was suspended for two semesters after his second underage ...
