A couple of days ago, Keith Donohue was building trail signs for Acadia National Park in Maine. Today he is working at a horse therapy program for autistic children in Vermont. Tomorrow he will be helping out at the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf. It is all part of his one-man, cross-country volunteer road trip adventure called 50Give. Apparently, many public school districts in the United States are increasingly turning to parents in order to cover budgetary shortfalls. In some cases, it's the parent-teacher associations that are spearheading the movement to make up for things like teacher's salaries and supplies when school boards can't.
