Click here to visit the new home of Politics Daily! After serving two years as Vice President Biden's communications director, Joe Carney is stepping up to the big stage "I really appreciate the turnout," joked Carney at his first outing as the new White House press secretary. "I've never seen this room so crowded." Carney made his debut Wednesday afternoon, officially replacing President Obama's longtime media representative Robert Gibbs. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs finished his 250th -- and last -- briefing on Friday. President Obama dropped by to return a tie he borrowed in 2004, and later reporters gathered round to say so long, some sipping champagne that materialized from wherever, and munching on rum cake and chocolate chip cookies. I didn't get it out fast enough. He also doesn't read Politico, apparently, since he hadn't seen the last thing I asked him about. I should probably stop asking questions that require study materials.
